While it kind of pains this Bobcat to compliment a griz on their DIY prowess I have to say I really appreciate the detailed video of a complete install, the kind we all want to do. Cheers.

Man.. his Colorado looks great! Love AEV products, had some mods from them when I had a Wrangler. Switched to a Tacoma and they don't make anything for them besides wheels. Hoping to see the 4Runner with more mods soon, congrats on the 100th!

More 4Runner stuff for sure! I'm also doing LED fog lights, a new full-length roof rack and other stuff.

Would love too see some lights added to the ol' dodge! Looking at doing some similar light upgrades to my truck. Keep them videos coming!
@JasonExplainsThings3 жыл бұрын
That would be awesome... they'd have to be retro KC lights! :-) Next week's video will feature the ol' Dodge a bit. Several other projects for it planned (U-Joints and a cool rear diff cover is the next thing). I'm being held up from working on it lately because it's over 100 degrees all the time and it doesn't fit in my shop or garage... and laying on asphalt is a no-go.
@josephmettes91473 жыл бұрын
@@JasonExplainsThings They most definitely would have to be retro lights, I agree! Also living in Phoenix, AZ I know a thing or two about 100⁰+ weather and pretty much anywhere on the ground being a no go zone hahaha

Great video! I know that this comment is about a year late but after watching this video a couple of times, I'm thinking about adding the Baja Design fogs and chase lights to my ZR2 Bison too. I noticed that Chris went with the XL-R Sport and Squadron Sport instead of the Pro's. Do you know if he ever wishes that the lights were brighter?
@JasonExplainsThings2 жыл бұрын
I’ll let him respond… I know he checks the comments like I do from time to time. The lights he installed are crazy bright. And I’ve driven his truck at night and can attest to that. So I’d say they’re a great choice.

Well my response is a year late to your comment, lol. But to answer, no. The sports are plenty bright for my use. Thanks for watching!... A year ago. 😂

Could you reuse existing harness if you want to keep the fog light button?

I believe so. I bet someone makes an adapter to plug it right it.

It did yes if I remember correctly. Either it was included or it was an add-on to the kit.

Why amber lights?
@PNW_Bison3 жыл бұрын
Good question, amber tends to give better visibility in inclement conditions (dust, fog, snow, etc). Not only for my visibility, but for others to see me better on the trail as well in dusty conditions, which we have alot of in Central Washington. 😁 You might see them in use for exactly that reason in an upcoming video!

Guys, you focused on all the EASY parts of the install. I have the rear lights, so I will focus comments on that. Installing the lights themselves is quite straightforward, but it is the wiring that is the difficult part. The Baja Designs (BD) wiring which comes with their Squadron lights looks sufficient, but when laying it out it is apparent the main lines going to the lights only extend to the front of the bed. Running the wiring along existing wiring channels is straightforward, but since the wires only reach so far, where are the hot and ground connection points? They will not reach the engine bay. I understand you used a third-party control switch in this video, but it appeared you ran the BD wiring through the firewall at a separate point as the switch's main wiring, but you glossed over the firewall penetration point merely stating that a fiberglass rod was used. Did you go through the main wiring port as well or did you use the penetration near the hood release cable (about 6" up and over)? Did the wire run to the same lighting control panel or did you used the BD switch and mount it elsewhere on the lower dash? If so, again, where did you connect the hot and ground under the chassis? Again, the easy parts were well covered, the nitty-gritty of penetrating the firewall and the wire connections for the leads was glossed over, and where the switch was installed as well. Otherwise, a decent video, but it lacks the critical info for the rear lights.
