Chevrolet Express van 5 inch lift by WeldTec Designs -

Ford E-Series 6″ Suspension Lift Kit “Baja Grocery Getter” - weldtecdesigns.com/product/wt...
We get a lot of calls from some of you guys asking for advice on purchasing a van, but cant decide between a Ford Econoline or a Chevy Express.
We decided we would bring you a video comparing one of our Ford E Series to a Chevy Express van with our lifts in hopes of answering questions you may have and to hopefully aim you in the right direction towards a new van.
We wanted to keep these vans somewhat similar other than the Ford and Chevy logos. So we tossed a true 5" lift on them with nothing other than wheels and tires to hopefully give you a good perspective of each van and what they look like lifted.
Overall these are to awesome vans that you cant go wrong with, but it comes down to personal preference and what you are looking to use the van for.
We hoped this video helped you gain a little more knowledge on these vans and if you still have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

Just an FYI it looks like the Chevy has had the brake line routed between the main leaf pack and the over load spring. If you max the suspension out your no longer going to have brakes in the back. That might be the e-brake cable, can’t really tell. 6:43 of the video.

do you know of any Limited slip options to put into the GM 7.2IFS front diff? I have a GM AWD Cargo van(2010 Savana H platform), and aside from a terrible front diff design(there is a reason I have 1 rebuilt and ready to go at all times), its open. Every option I can find for 7.2IFS redirects to the 8.2 front end, which isn't the same...

The 5.4 ford motor changed over the years a little. Im not a ford guy but think some had 2 valves per cyl. Some had 3. They will all start spitting spark plugs out at some point in life. The 5.3 or 6 chevy will run forever. The ford motor will not tolerate missed oil changes. The cam phaser will lash out at you like the devil if you push it with dirty oil. Cool vans. Bring on the hate comments i can take it.

@Damnit Bobby im ASE cert. And you must be a ford loving bitch boy. Oil breaking down destroys the valve train on that junk ass motor way worse than it affects others. Chevy builds a motor right so they have no need to change it every 6 mo. You should buy a few and never change the oil. Hell buy a eco boost and really show your gayness.

Anyone make a 2wd lift kit for dodge b250? My family has a 1990 dodge b250 Roadtrek camper van. We love it. Been wanting to add a locking rear diff, winch front bumper, and a suspension lift to get us a little more off the beaten path, but cant seem to find any kits anywhere. I'm thinking performance might be a bit different between the two, mainly due to gearing. I'm thinking the Ford 5.4 w/ 3.73s might be a bit different than the Chevy 6.0 w/ 3.42s (that's how they come, right?)- unless the Chevy has a lot more power than Ford (which may be true).
@HaloDaycare
@HaloDaycare 3 жыл бұрын
I'd steer clear of the 5.4 unless you can get a quality remanufactured engine put in immediately and only then will it last for a very long time. I'd consider the 4.6 and even the 4.2 in the e250. I have the 4.2 with 297k miles and I absolutely love it. Yes, it's slow. However, they're built well and built to last so long as you use the V6 for what it is intended for. Light duty stuff!

What parts should I start collecting for the 4x4 conversion? . My van is a 1999 with the powerstroke. I assume transfer case and Dana 60 from the superduty with the same engine? My bad! I’m still thinking your Baja kit is the way to go! I believe I’m going to like it enough to stay two wheel drive. My main reason for liking four wheel drive is for the low range for pulling big boats up the launch ramp. Saves the trans but I can always do a gear vender with a under-drive.

Dont know about the express, but I know down the line the ford has the eventual idling issues. Currently chasing down the issue in mine. Wont idle at stop lights if it doesnt want to, and dies when shifting in reverse. Is it the IAC? A vacuum leak? has the automatic filter fallen? Are the engine mounts bad? Bad distributor/spark plugs? Who knows, but you'll replace everything til you find out.

@mapquestHs
@mapquestHs 4 жыл бұрын
Yes was a big problem with the older 5.4’s. I just wanted to suggest to anyone who has one that the trick is to occasionally pull the plugs, put anti seize on threads, and most importantly torque the plugs to the right torque. From what I understand the flaw is that there’s not enough thread going into the head. So the plugs tend to loosen up and eventually blow out stripping out the head.

Yeah the coil springs help give you some more height as well, the custom leaf springs in the rear is a deal breaker though if I'm being honest. It allows for much more articulation more towing capacity as well as give you the smoothest ride you can get. The springs are weighted specifically to your build so you can have a full camper build out and we can get you the correct springs to accommodate the weight and give you the best ride possible! 👍

Yet it is more durable that the others, keeping adjustment is impossible, but you can beat on it without it falling apart.

@@Maples01 it is tough as hell especially the early setup that used king pins instead of ball joints. It's strong because it's simple. I still think a straight single beam with the same radius arms and coils would've been a better choice. You'd have varying caster but consistent camber and toe

@@roncook8566 I've had several, the old trucks, them my 99 E350 and 73 E100 I have currently, you accept the tire wear, but I will say when keeping the tires on my E350 at 80 psi they have been even, no cupping, but buying Coopers, all suffer sidewall separation. Unlike the GM A-arms, you can jump curbs without fear of knocking anything loose.

Not hardly. I've got experience with these vans too, and you're wrong. I'm driving an Express at this very moment, and I can tell you it's garbage. When braking the 8 gear tranny clunks into a lower gear tossing the vehicle around, the engine whines (without the gratification of having a supercharger), the driving position is pure 💩 ... you're pushed up against the door and your head is shoved into the airbag, the steering wheel can only be adjusted up/down and does not telescope out like the superior Ford. The Chevy's dash is long, ugly, badly designed lacking thought or ergonomics and the steering wheel is spaced too closely into the dash ... Chevy's Express van is a lower, the previous G-Series were superior in every way, even to the Ford equivalents. But today the Ford's are superior.

Banks last week used car prices did go down 11.8%. I am thinking they were going to go down a lot further with all the new cars to dealers cannot sell. Sorry guys I think businesses like this will take a huge hit as people are going to have to learn to save for what they want instead of self-gratification and borrowing money putting themselves deeper into debt. are tightening up credit and also making a person have a lot higher credit score for a loan. Since the unemployment numbers have come out with still many millions left to apply people will have to decide whether they want to try to make the rent payment mortgage payment versus spending money because these conversions are very expensive.

Normally, when the public thinks of van conversions, they think of conversion to a camper van; in other words, interior design, bed, storage, kitchen, etc. So, the title of this video is misleading.

Chevys kinda suck, but Fords are slightly above average when it comes to overall reliability, repairability, and longevity. If you're buying it new and getting rid of it before 100k it doesn't matter that much. 4x4 is a waste of money in any heavy vehicle, especially when it comes to the inevitable repairs. Get better tires + chains instead if you're planning on off-roading. I know yall are just trying to make a buck, but lift kits are a total meme. Unless you work as a logger in the Appalachians you'll NEVER find yourself in a situation where they're worth it.

"The Ford has a 5.4L, and the Chevy has a 6L" INCORRECT! You should make clear that YOUR Ford and Chevy have those engines, but both have other engine options. The Ford E-Series can also be had with the 6.8L V10 ... and the Chevy can be had with the 4.3L ... and there are more options still for both. BAD EXPLANATIONS 👎 Talk about what you know or stimmy up ... or ... how about bother to do some research and learn.
