Wire nuts under a dash is never a good sign ;) It's nice that it comes with all new relays and fuses. I imagine that saves a lot of time :)

Nice diagnosis & repair Tim. 2005-06 still had the replaceable high & low beam relays and that PCB design started in 2007 and on. The PCB design makes me wonder what they were thinking but it's only going to get worse the more integrated the electronics become to reduce weight & space. Costs are getting crazy and a simple relay replacement costs about $300 now to replace the fuse block. The 2016 Ford tail light lens will cost @$800 now b/c it has the camera as part of the tail light assembly and the only way to get the lens is buy the assembly...lots of temp repairs with clear plastic tape, superglue or plastic stitch repairs unless your down south and then out comes the good ole reliable duct tape :O

Het Tim, I have been looking all over the internet for a possible solution to an issue I have, maybe you can help. 2012 GMC Sierra, high beams got weaker, not dim but finally quit working. Blue light on dash comes on but the lights don't work. I am afraid it may be a bad switch on the column. I flipped relays, the fuses go left versus right, not upper versus bottom. What do you think?

My 94 GMC Sierra pickup truck 1500 6.5 turbo diesel will not have highlights. I changed the steering column because the parts were missing inside. I changed the switch on the side front dash.. still no highlights I've changed all of the fuses I believe there are two small silver circuit breakers looks like I have to investigate.

Hey car doc, great 👍 video I was just wondering if my situation with my 07 cadillac escalade can be solved with the same steps only difrenc is my rear flasher and passenger side mirror signal not working when I shutdown the car rear lights stay on and head light will not turn on removed head light relay and placed back on wiggling it head lights then turnd on but real light never turns off I unplugged brake switch and all three rear brake lights came on plugged back in and brake lights turn off but tail lights stay on. Any advice or recommendations will be appreciated again thanks for the videos realy helpful.

Dude... Thank you... I've been driving for over a year without high beams for over a year in my 07 Silverado because I have the same problem. I gave up after finding nothing anywhere on the Internet, then today I punch it into the search on KZbin and presto... I think I can bypass the tests since the fog lights still work as they should, and go straight to replacing the fuse block. Any information I should know about ordering the right block?

Nope, still doing it as far as I know, and I think it may be timing itself out after flickering for a certain period of time. I'll go back out to my truck the next day and it won't be doing it, and doesn't seem to be running the battery down as far as I know, so not even sure if that flicker is enough to draw & weaken the battery any. I thought it might be the dimmer-switch, as I sat in it one day and waited for it to start, then I would play with the dimmer-switch & it seemed to affect it, so I think it might be related. Pulled both the fuse AND the relay for the high-beams & it still does it, so it's def something behind the dash (instrument-cluster, body-module or dimmer-switch). Doesn't seem to be related to humid/rainy-weather either at this point, does it in dry-weather too. As long as the lights don't start coming on I think I'll be okay, but my main concern was causing a low-draw and eventually wearing the battery-down prematurely. How long has yours been doing it, and how bad is it? Is it killing the battery?

Something is wrong if your bulb is melting plastic. Aftermarket “high intensity bulbs can cause this.

I have an 07 Chevy Silverado 6.0 liter WT and most of the time my brights turn on when I use the indicator, occasionally the indicator doesn't turn on the brights, but it is rare. However when I switch the headlight setting to ambers and running lights only, the brights work properly all of the time. In my case does it sound like my indicator switch?

Hi Car Doctor, I have a 2006 Chevy C3500 4x4 w/6.0 and I've replace all lights with LED and the O.E.M Flasher unit#10383321 for a Novita#LM487(which state is for LED Lighting) well this fixed the speed that the flasher unit responds, its no longer a rapid succession but I still have no flasher or turn signal when I turn the Headlamps to High Beams? Just as an FYI I also installed a Diode to go to the clearance lights to the High Beams (Like the Internet showed for all lights on when on High Beam). Can you tell me or direct me what is the source of my problem as to why I do not have turn signal or flasher when I turn Headlamps on? Please let me know what I owe you for this info. This video is already a year old but i hope you see this, i have a 1997 Silverado, the low beams work but not the highbeams. I bought a new multifunction switch(turn signal lever), a new 50Fuse for under the hood, new headlight bulbs, and still nothing. What could be the problem?

The problem is probably the same thing he demonstrates in the video. My Avalanche started with intermittent high beams, then one day they got stuck on. I yanked the fuses for both high beams so my battery didn't go dead. I haven't replaced the underhood fuse module yet but I'm 99.99999% sure that's what the problem is. The telltale sign is that the stalk switch is doing what it should - high beam indicator goes on and off as it should, fog lights get canceled as they should...has to be the PCB on the fuse panel.

I don't think they make these lights anymore. Its a bluepoint off the snapon truck. They aren't the best as far as durability. They cost $100. IM looking into a better option and will review one if I find it.

Yes check your fuses those headlights had an independent fuse for each side and if one went out simm the light in on side only.

ashtonzero my problem was I ordered all 4 headlight pig tails and soldered them in and still didn’t have brights..I also replaced the low beam bulbs..the high beam bulbs looked fine and were not burnt out..I almost thought it was fuse box and what I did was tapped on the high beam bulb housing and sure enough I had brights so I replaced the bulbs and everything worked

Jim, the BCM ( body control module) for my monte is $300 + $100 to program it; no wreaking yard part will work, for they are programmed to the auto they were installed in. These manufactures / engineers have bent the consumers over, supply another 75 monte, no problems with any electrical.

$218 because the headlamp relay is non-serviceable. It shouldn't cost this much to fix this issue. To me, it seems almost criminal to have to change out the entire block because of one bad relay. I have a '14 Silverado with this issue. I've had 4 previous Chevy trucks and every one had electrical issues. I hate to say it, but, Ford is looking good to me lately.

Dont manufacturers do some silly stuff, "No lets not fit an external relay.", oh brother, give them a brain lol. If you can fix the internal relay or bring the wires outside the box, that could be a usable "test" fusebox for other vehicles :-). The audio seemed overloud on this video, just thought you may want to know.

The engineers are smart. Their managers asked them to design in ways to insure the money would continue to flow in from replacement parts sales long after the vehicle warranty expired. So they gave them this! Super smart. hahahaIM working out the audio stuff. New wireless mic system and didn't know how to adjust. Thanks for letting me know.

But being brought up in a poor family makes you appreciate things more, ive had to repair everything myself because of the cost.
