What you described sounds exactly whats going on with my car (2001 chevy impala), gonna try replacing that modual. Also just got the car. Gotta jump it every time I wanna get it started, idk if its the battery, if it just hasn't been run in awhile, or that igniton problem you were having, so gonna take at look at that. If you have intermittent and transient stalling issues it may be the cat converter - Meineke cut mine out and replaced it for ~$200 - Stainless steel pipe and mufflers (04SS) still good - The MAF sensor codes have since stopped (2+) years ~15k mi since (total 136k) - went thru 2 sensors over a few years before the 3rd throw of the code after more weird stalling issues - after 6-8 months from replacement #2. The auto guru I know suggested something else is afoot. Hence, Meineke...They said the innards of the cat converter get twisted/turned and causes issues. ATbest.

Glad you got it fixed. It's always a gamble with junkyard electronics but luckily that one was good. That's a lot of coolant leakage too!

yeah. that car's been good to me. can't afford and really don't want a new car right now. hopefully in the next few weeks I can replace the plenum and the intake manifold gaskets. stay tuned for a video series lol

I've found a good way to diagnose the MAF on these impalas. When you're having issues like this just tap on the top of it with a wrench. If the car starts having issues only when tapping on it than you need a new sensor. Had it happen to mine. My intake manifold is leaking as well. It only leaks from 1 bolt that I know of so I might grab some flex seal

Right on the mark, I gave it a tap and went dead. i cleaned the sensor and turn on and gave it a tap again and kept running. i kept tapping and you can hear it act up and finally died. Thanks for the hint.

That stutter you had at 30 is exactly what’s happening to me I’ve had a misfire that has also plagued me even after changing plugs coils and leads, in your opinion is the car worth continuing to throw money at it’s almost 20 years old with 150,000 miles

I had a issue of high RPM at cruise speed. My cause was from the top switch above my brake switch under the dash. Some how it came lose and was not pushed into the brake peddle lever. I hope that helps.. What made me look was the cruise kept shutting off. (like when you hit they brakes). now my RPMs are below 2000 again.

I got a recall as well, it said that it was exhaust manifold oil leak and they replaced the cam cover? They also took my vanity cover and my oil tube that the cap goes in and the new cap takes the hulk to get on and off

I did that to mine. Mines flashing check engine and is real sluggish and rough. I drove it in a real bad downpour and it started running bad and flashing. I changed the plug wires, but not plugs because they're literally 2 years old.

My Bonneville was leaking coolant into the cyclinders the egr valve got to hot and melted the intake gasket.had to get gm upgrade pengilum and it comes with new egr upgrade.$120 bucks.it was a bad design gm had done.but all good after replacement.

Hey brother, can u please help me with the same Issue I have replaced the maf sensor with branded Hitachi but it still shows the light for O2 sensor catalytic converter. Does O2 catalytic affects the gad mileage? I'm getting 16mpg right but I used to get atleast 22mpg highway n local combined.

mine in a monte 3800 unplugging the maf sensor it keeps running unplugged better if the mass flo sensor is bad ?never dies unpugged !
