Thanks for this video, it helped in changing the pump on a '96 SS. 2 things of note regarding that accessory bracket that has to be removed that was not seen in the video (probably due to that pump being replaced previously) 1: there is another 14mm bolt hiding behind the 2 middle plug wires on the optispark distributor. I had to pull the 2 plug wires off the opticpark to access the bolt. 2: once all bolts on bracket are out, I still couldn't remove it because there is yet another smaller bolt on the backside holding a wire harness bracket on it. I did not have to remove the bolt, I was able to *just* pull the bracket off the water pump stud and move off to the side. Thanks again for this and part 2, it helped immensely.

Nicely done guys I have done a few of these and this video is spot on

It would probably be advised to cover the Optispark unit with a cloth rag so water doesn't get on it when removing the water pump.

Thanks for watching. We did not have to remove the fan because this vehicle has electric cooling fans and it was not necessary to remove it.

If power tools are too advanced for a person to use, I'm not sure if they should be working on a car.

When you pull the water pump off, if the camshaft coupler comes off also. make sure the end of the coupler with the groove goes toward the engine. if the water pump doesn't go on easily the coupler is probably backwards.

I got a 1995 chevy caprice classic and that brace you showed I broke the brace where a bolt is behind the distributor wire and found that there is a pipe bolt to it

Any way you have a diagram of which bolts go where? I took mine apart and am having trouble placing all of the bolts. Thanks in advance! Awesome video.

I've attempted to replace my water pump after watching your video. I have disassembled everything listed but the pumps seems to be stuck on. Is there something I missed?

this probably a dumb question but did you remove the fan before this video? I have a 95 Caprice and I have to replace my water pump and never done it before even though it looks all the same to me (as in parts) I just want to know if its all the same for sure. This is a great how to guide still for some one who has never done it

Can somebody help please. At 2:29, he disconnects the temp sensor plug. I have a 95 impala, mines doesn't have a clip on plug, it's some type of needle that goes directly in the middle of the bolt. When I tried to unscrew the bolt, coolant came shooting out. Anybody know how I would remove my temp sensor (trying to diagnosis fans not working issue)?
