Liked the video as it’s very similar to what I’m doing. I’ve modified a 78 K20 chassis (shortened 16.5 in) and mounting a 57 cab and short bed to it. I purchased a 25 gallon blazer tank and had to relocate the bracket for the rear brake line around 7 inches forward. I am moving that rear crossmember aft maybe 2.5 inches which gives good clearance with the 14 bolt differential. I’m going to put the gas filler/cap in the bed. Right now I’m thinking of either adapting the existing pipe to go straight up or putting a pipe straight down from the bed. There is a circular depression pressed into the top of the tank toward one corner. I’m headed to the metal store to get an angle iron tomorrow. I like how your reusing the stock cross members just repositioned. My seat took a while to finagle up in there... you'll get it. In case you didn't know , sometimes the tracks seem off, but when you are bolting it in, rear first, when you slide the seat forward and back (with the lever under Tue seat) the angle changes of the tracks.

Thanks for the info, I have to fix my seat tracks, they are both broken. I don't think I showed it in the video but I will be making a trip to the wrecking yard soon.

Dave, great video! Definitely curious to see the tank modification. Working on the fuel system in my K5 is in the near future and I haven't decided on a definite direction yet. That ole bench seat looks pretty awesome! Can't wait to see it in the truck!

So a few things. Love your videos. Im doing a LS1 swap from a 2002 Tahoe 5.3 in to my 1977 K5 Blazer. If you ever need to weld a gas tank put a hose from your exhaust into y=the tank. Same reason it will kill you. Exhaust is heavier than oxygen. It will push any air out and be filled with carbon monoxide.

I just did this on a 85 K-10. My truck was a factory single tank so the wiring is simple. I heard in the video that you were going to weld a vent tube in the tank. Don't. If you get the correct sending unit for the tank (81 to 85 K-5 or Suburban), the vent tube is in it. no need to drill or weld.

Thanks for the video I’m going to do this to my 1977 k10 the previous owner cut off my saddle tank brackets so I was figuring out what would be the best way to have a gas tank again

It fits under the bed, you don’t have to trim the bed, but you will have to cut a hole somewhere for the fill.

Have you figured out the fill location? I ran mine out to the fender but it’s a little low and not filling up correctly, I’m going to have to relocate it even higher, but then it will have to come up into the bed even more. If you’ve come up with a solution, I’d love to hear about it or see it. I don’t want to keep redoing my work.

I'm not sure with a stock set up. On the K10 I used and aftermarket fuel gauge, and will probably do the same with this truck.
