Just replaced my actuator on a 2019 Suburban and this video is spot on. Only differences I found are two cross bars to remove and the driver's side bolts are 24, not 22. I couldn't have done the job without this video. Thank you!

I love the silicone idea to make sure there are no leaks! Thank you 😀

The actuator piston can be turned in or out with a wrench to engauge or disengage the 4wd if you are in a pinch

Thank you for your video. I recently replaced the actuator motor and I had some oil coming out from the hole. Is that normal ???

just a note, silicone is a bad idea in most cases when on cars due to the fact that when it dries out it flakes, a red thread lock would be a better case or just add more of the thread tape. That's just my opinion though and it should be noted that I'm not a mechanic so take that with a grain of salt. I do however know silicone due to working at a n irrigation pump company. we used silicone for a lot of things, And I know that just after 5 months of sitting in weather a pipe that has a flange gasket sealed with silicone, will come apart with dried flakes of silicone. No i know there are different types of silicone, and high temperature silicone works fine until it gets cold, the cold is what does the silicone in from my experience. Anyways this video helped a lot, thank you for making it!

Have a question my light comes on and I can hear the acutor makes noise but the front axle don’t lock in what could make it do that
@arthurvillanuevavillanueva9235 ай бұрын

Every video I have seen shows that threading in so easily. I have the exact opposite problem. Mine will not thread. It is a Dorman, and the threads are the same, but the part will not thread in. It catches, then pops past and refuses to thread in no matter what I try. Any advice on getting past this issue would be appreciated. The old part threads back in no problem by the way.

Wire wheel the threads. Helps loosen them up

Thanks for this! Was there a code associated with this? I have C0397 “Transfer case clutch max travel exceeded”. Seems like this video repair is related front axle, not transfer case, but KZbin keeps showing me videos of this actuator when I search my code. Any help is appreciated.

Did you find the problem with your code. Just got one of these today? Thanks in advance.

@@Thunderroad8517 for me it turned out to be a bad transfer case. It was very obvious once I checked the oil in the transfer case there were many sparkly metal flakes 😳😔. I got it replaced with a junkyard unit from LKQ.

This video is an excellent resource, I appreciate you sharing this information. I am doing this repair as we speak and have the truck on ramps. Is it necessary to have the front wheels off of the ground while removing the steering rack fasteners? I don’t want to cause any issues to the steering system while replacing the front axle actuator. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you again for posting this content.

You may run into difficulty lining the bolts back up with the holes with pressure on the tires but it should be doable. Let me know how it goes! Thanks for the comment!
