I worked at a dealership for eight years, and I never, NEVER saw anyone clean the caliper adapter bracket contact surfaces. I think we had one guy who regularly used the 3M cookies to clean up hubs and such. Didn't know there was anyone left in the repair business who cared about the quality of their work. Guess that's why I keep watching.

I learn another little trick every time I watch one of these. I always wondered why you put the pads in the bracket at the workbench instead of after bolting the bracket back on, and how you kept them from falling right the shmoo out of the bracket while doing so. Today I learned why, and also how - that stupid little toothy thing crimped into the hardware explains both. I also learned the trick of starting the upper caliper bolt with the caliper up & away. Great tips, thank you sir.

I love these brake job videos. I used to THINK I Knew how to do brakes. I practiced taking them off and putting them on in auto shop in high school, and I saw my untrained family do it. Then I see how Eric O. does it, and I perform a brake job using his methods, and I am impressed on how smooth the car stopped. The brake pads last a lot longer too (Didn't care with lifetime warranty pads lol). I always blamed age of the cars and cheap aftermarket pads, but it was just not being properly trained. Every brake job I do now feels like the car just rolled off the assembly line and stops like it was meant to! Keep up the wonderful videos Eric!
