Tacoma-213,000 miles, replacement hubs-0. They really are far superior. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.

I like Toyotas too - I wanted a 4runner but this suburban was half the cost of a similar 4runner or sequoia and easy enough to work on so I went with it.

A tip for popping the hub off is to put a series of extensions between the hub and the frame and then use the power steering to turn the hub against the extensions. Sometimes you can spend hours banging on those things. Power steering works easy every time.

Interesting...good tip! Although I'd be a little concerned about overstressing the ps pump

These are notorious for bad wheel bearings. Good thing yours is not a 4WD. Well done!

I had a 2002 exploder! lol (explorer) . I had to do a lot of wheel bearing hubs on it through out the time I owned it. It was all time four wheel drive and went through them like crazy! Impact tools makes that job way easier and faster lol! (as you know). I hated to watch you struggle with that axel nut. Also I always used a zip tie to hold the caliper out of the way so it would not fall. I also used to anti seize those splines on the axel before putting the hub back on so next time it was easier to take off... sorry for all the suggestions lol I'm an equipment mechanic.

I usually put something on the axle splines too but forgot. Seems like wheel bearings have become a service item on awd cars. I think the previous owner of this car may have run it in awd mode most of the time. I always run in 2wd mode and switch to 4wd when I need it. I hate automatic stuff...

@@SevenFortyOne Yeah I hear ya! I didn't even have a option to just use 2wd or I would of for sure! lol But the vehicle was a absolute beast in the snow!

Hi Rob, thanks for sharing. My 2017 Suburban being les than a year old with 20K miles on it had this same bearing go bad. It was covered under warranty thank goodness. To hold the hub from turning while I take off the axle nut I stick a screwdriver in the ventilating holes of the rotor. It will stop the rotor and hub from turning when it contacts the brake caliper. I have an impact socket and wrench so I generally don't have to do that. but when tightening with a torque wrench it is a big help.
