These trucks are awesome. Back when GM knew how to build solid cars. Push rod 5.3 V8 and a 4 speed auto can't beat it. Yeah the fuel economy is bad but these things are so cheap to buy and maintain. If something does break parts are plentiful and easy to come by. There's a reason you still see these 20 years cars everywhere on the road. Not many other cars you can say that about!

New Tahoe's may have more gears, more horsepower, more bells and whistles, new tech But they are not made with the level of quality that these tahoes were made with like the seats and overall sturdiness and durability of these year models. The one problem Chevrolet had between 2000 and 2006, especially seen in the Impala, is that sometimes the key chip would fail and the entire system would lock up... and then you would have to take it to a dealership and pay $150 to get the system reset. There was a bypass but you had to keep the key on Accesories for 10 minutes and then it would start but that was annoying

My 2002 Chevy Tahoe with 203k miles runs great, the overall look of it has taken a beating over the years but I still take great care of it, yes it does ride smoother than any other suv out there today. Sadly after 2008, Chevy became garbage, my brothers 2021 Tahoe blew up at 300 miles, it’s sad to see how downhill Chevrolet has gone. And my Tahoe will run for another 300k miles. The 5.3 is possibly the worlds strongest and longest lasting Gas V8 out there. Quick edit, I’ve gone over 2k miles since I made this comment and my transmission is starting to slip and clunk, the 4L60E transmissions usually break at around 200k - 215k miles, that’s still better than 80% of other cars out there 3 month later edit: I’m now at 209k miles and my transmission only got worse, I used the whole bottle of Lucas transmission fix, after the car heats up it shift like brand new, hopefully I can get a few more years out of it

Should I change everything front/back socks and struts? Also please enlighten me to anything else I should do in order to improve the ride. I hope I hear from someone, Thanks in advance
@proven62703 жыл бұрын
Just fyi, Yukon DOESN'T have struts... They have shocks... With torsion bar front suspension. Again, just fyi. I recently (7/2021) picked myself up another 2001 GMC Yukon XT 2500, 231k, BUT this has the SILVERBACK GORILLA 8.1/496 Vortec BB !! 4.10 gears w/ the G80, NP246 transfer case. Just an overall BEAST... Nearly the same HP/ torque #'s to the back in the day Duramax's... Aside from the basics, changing engine oil, trans fluid/filter, front and rear diff fluids, transfer case oil, set of spark plugs, clean throttle body butterfly, air filter, 2x cabin filters, 2 new key less entry remotes, p/s front window motor/regulator, headlight/dimmer switch, 2 serp belts, and a new ( reman ) hydro boost, and wired in a backup camera system. Mine overall didn't need much. It purrs like a kitten, and stings like a bee !!! TBH, it's got more GRUNT than my 2015 Silverado 2500 HD LT Z71 with a 6.0 that I paid $42k+ brand new sitting next to it !!! I may change p/s exhaust manifold... I hear a slight leak and it's annoying me. But chances are the studs will snap off in the head, and then have to weld nuts to em, & R&R @ same time, (common), but can be a additional PITA... These are really good, reliable trucks, for snow plowing, pulling trailers/campers, or yanking the neighbors house down !!! It'll pass everything on the road, EXCEPT a gas station !!! Loves to suck fuel 🙈😆 Btw, it's only a few bolts to R&R shocks, you could take 1 off easy enough, and see if it has any pressure. If NO pressure, REPLACE em. or if you visually see oil leaking from them, then you'll also know they need to be replaced... But do some basic maintenance, repairs, treat it well, and it'll last a very long time !!! Enjoy !!! 👍😃
