Dude First off, I want to say I’m sorry for your loss and losing your dad. That’s never easy to deal with. Second, I totally empathize with the fact that this vehicle has been in your family that long. My mom just recently gave me the 2004 tahoe that we grew up with. It’s now 2022 and I have my own family and it has the 4.8 vortex with 430k original miles and still runs like a champ. Original motor and trans are in great shape and has no leaks whatsoever. Truly a dependable and reliable vehicle

i mean the 2000s ford expedition of the same year didn't have front headrests and third row headrests (unless you're talking about the 2003 where it had rear headrests) so i get why

The Chevy Tahoe was my dad’s second truck that he bought after owning his 90s Suburban for the first few years of my life, and I remember my mom and brothers telling me about the new truck, and I don’t know if I was returning from a vacation, or a hospital, or a vacation at a hospital, or whatever, but I vividly remember walking out into the parking space and seeing the general shape of the new truck! Over the years, as I grew up I began subconsciously growing an attachment to the truck, and when my Dad surprised us by saying we’ll be getting a DVD player installed in the truck, that attachment only got stronger! One of my most cherished memories from my childhood was when my mom and dad took me and my brother to go see the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang live musical in New York! And with the exception of taking a boat ride to visit the Big Apple itself, when driving to a hotel (or condo I think) that we stayed at during our vacation, we rode in the Tahoe! It was beautiful! Only a few years later, we took that same Tahoe to a different hotel/condo, that I remember had a wilderness cabin vibe, but still had the general amenities! (Still remember the smell, and the fold out couch-bed, and the (mostly) bamboo lined walls and the random oval patch of brown fur on the wall, AND the first night we arrived, me and my bro turned on the tv to Nickelodeon, and my favorite crossover, Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour was on!) We also went camping quite a few times with our Tahoe, and eventually, after discovering the movies about a sentient Volkswagen Beetle named Herbie, I then reimagined our Tahoe as our own lovable vehicle with a mind of his own! And from then on, I actively (often annoyingly) treated my Dad’s Truck as our own “Herbie” that I named “Tahoe!” And almost every time I rode in the truck, I was giddy with excitement!!! But aside from my own personification of the truck, I also had a lot of memories with that Chevy! Camping, road trips, vacations, helping Dad build and fix stuff in our backyard, or build and fix stuff in general, etc. my family and I, and Tahoe, all grew up together, all the way until we moved to our new house, which even then, despite a lot of the buttons and switches getting scratched, the plastic wearing out, the seats and carpet getting dirt and mud stains, and other things, Tahoe still stayed reliable all the way up to a few years into living in our new house, and a few years into my highschool years! And when I say “up to,” I mean that that was the time when my dad probably just needed a new larger truck, mainly to help with work and stuff. While Tahoe certainly was staying strong, It might just have been time to retire him to another driver, for a myriad of reasons! Our family was getting quite big as well, and we needed three row vehicles, but Tahoe had old school back seats that you had to install into the back, which also shrunk an already kinda small cargo space. A modern GM Truck, especially one with a longer space, was the best of both worlds! With a foldable third row, and other advantages, it just made sense. And I still love our current truck! But that Tahoe will always hold a special place in my heart! (In fact, during our first year with the new Truck, we had to send it in for some reason, and guess what rental car we used in the meantime? THE TAHOE! THE EXACT SAME TAHOE AS WELL!😂 Tahoe wanted to say goodbye one last time!🥹💖💖💖)

I am a die hard Ford fan, coming from a Ford family. I have a Mustang and I just sold a 2004 Ranger. I need a bigger truck from the 2000’s and I am really considering this generation Tahoe. They are just better than any SUV ford produced in the 2000’s.

The first car I ever bought was a 2004 Tahoe in Champagne color. I had so many good memories with it but I sold it because Gas was so expensive, and I got a smaller more fuel-efficient car. I sold it in 2013, and I really regret that because it was the greatest vehicle I ever drove. The engine sounded so good that V8 was so good sounding when I cranked it on, I truly miss it. Probably going to buy another one in the same year range when I get back to the states.

Old video, but we've had 7 of them. My old lady smashed the 05, so I got an 07, and an 09. Neither of us liked the newer ones so we sold them and went back to the older ones. I found her an 04 with 110,000 miles 2wd/5.3. I'm currently driving an 05 AWD Denali with the 6.0 and 250,000 miles. Trans was rebuilt at 196,000 but the engine runs like a champ. We could afford 2 new cars, but we don't like them. We both like these trucks.

@@oakisoakahaha4741 Yeah, the 07 I sold needed an engine rebuild. The 05 Denali I have just blew a head gasket last week, but at 255,000 miles I'm not too disappointed. I have another set of 6.0 heads I'll just rebuild those and swap them out with new head gaskets. Should be good for a while after that. I love these trucks. I've had a lot of different brands of vehicles but these have been the most reliable.

Great Video, the truth is that is my favorite generation of Tahoe and Suburban, I love the story that you tell us about how a great partner and part of the family is, If it was up to me I would keep it, but that is everyone's decision, I keep my Dad's 2002 Dodge Ram Wagon 1500 and my Mom's 2001 Chrylser Voyager, super comfortable trucks and I wouldn't trade them for any new car. I think any cars from the late nineties and early 2000s have a very smooth ride quality compared to today's cars, and for a lower price. Great video and story Man♥️🙌🏻❣

I really couldn't decide what to get as my next daily driver, a 1st Gen or 2nd Gen Thaoe. Watched alot of videos, read alot in the Internet & both Gen are awesome. After this Video it's final for me, a 2nd Gen. Never want to tow, don't drive in the mud etc. so I don't need the low end tourge of the 5.7 Vortec. Thanks alot for this video.

I just bought a 2004 Tahoe Lt same thing as his and it has 225k and it runs great the Bose amp is going out I heard that’s a common problem and the headliner comes down and the driver seat gets wore out but besides that it’s a great vehicle and extremely reliable unless whoever owned it didn’t change the fluids in that case the transmission will go out or mess up
