So you saying removing the 4th wire connected to the harness side of the truck will stop these things from frying? I have 2 that are toast, one has that same burned spot as in your video it’s fried in the same spot. The other one I haven’t removed from the truck yet but i’m sure it’s gonna be the same.

Where does the green wire above the one u cut go to?
@joshgallegos62113 жыл бұрын
Man you guys; have you even thought of getting THE MANUFACTURERS book with all the wiring schematics? It's a bad ground! All the chevys 88-98 truck and SUVs have the dumbest places for ground on the frame. What happens is "yes" you are correct as the alternator drives current through your electrical system and when you go to use your climate control; that whole module gets fried that very moment cause there's no where for it to ground and just blow the fuse instead. The ground varies for diffent models that's why service manuals are really helpful in showing where the ground is. Either bad ground wire, frayed, cut, or corroded and just not getting ground. So by cutting the wire and just leaving it like that your gonna end up eventually frying your pcm which is gonna cost you a shit ton of money just for the computer itself and the reprogramming. Chevy wasnt thinking by using direct wires without a 2part failsafe and the wires being 14-16 gauge not being able to handle the current when there is a bad ground and then either 1] Frys the board on circuit path 4 or 5 and or 2] will fry your actual terminal connector and switch usually on #1 POWER wire terminal head.
@benkanobe75002 жыл бұрын
Would taking the black (ground) wire that is part of the bundle in the harness for the climate control module and finding a very good ground for it and "tee-in" and additional ground point to that wire fix the problem? My assumption is to leave everything else exactly as GM intended, just tee-in an auxiliary ground to the existing ground wire. (?) Correct?

all the lights on my control module light up normally but I still have my AC cut in an out meaning it seems to work(sorta) sometimes and other time not at all. Compressor not engaging, nothing. AC tech (who I paid a lot of money only to not be able to fix it) says its electrical bc its not getting power signal to the compressor but he can make the clutch engage when he applies power to it. He pointed out the AC control module, but as you stated if it lights up, its not blown. I dont know then.

I need a little clarification. Like you, I am on my 4th or 5th A/C control unit. I have had two types of failures. The traces on the circuit board fry exactly as you demonstrated on yours. Also, the power transistor has blown on two of mine as well. I am still not sure what your "fix" is. I have watched the video several times. Is the fix that you literally cut the green wire so it is no longer connected to anything?? My truck, 1996 Sububurban has the same wire colors as the very last example you showed. My wires are just like that. On the grey connector you show, there is a set of 4 wires and a set of 5 wires. Did you cut the green wire that is the second wire on the 5 wire set? Does anything Not work since cutting the wire? Do I have to do the red jumper you did?? I have a new A/C control unit, not a junkyard one that I am ready to install. I want to make the modification you did and so want to be sure. For the brand new A/C control unit, do I have to do the red wire jumper you did, or just cut the green wire and then install the new unit? The wire I think you are showing to cut is the second wire up, after the brown wire and in between it (brown wire) and the other green wire in the 5 wire set on the grey connector. Correct?? This is a really helpful KZbin. Thank you. I subscribed. Where do we purchase the two pressure sensors you replaced? Is yours still working with the cut green wire??

So the ac does not turn on once I engage the fan...also my air direction nob no longer adjusts. It's just stuck on one setting. So I bought a whole new module on Amazon for 80 bucks. I'm going to install and hopefully it's all good!! And checked every fuse and they're all good...frickn weird

@@donnywilson6460 Thanks! I didn't know amazon had them until reading your post. Mine if for a Suburban with rear window defrost. Amazon had one so I ordered it and spent the $12.00 for four years of warranty. If it smokes, I will just keep returning for new while I try to find the problem. I am going to add an additional ground wire to the black wire that feeds the unit and see if that helps. I'm just going to "Tee-in" to the existing ground and then to some easy known good ground under the dash somewhere. I will update when I get mine installed.
