In this video I bring you along as I have a look at a Chevy Traverse that has a customer complaint that when she tries to pick up speed the ABS and traction control goes crazy. More than likely a failed magnetic ring on a wheel bearing but we still need to find out what one is the bad one. -Enjoy!

I just had a 2010 Traverse come into my shop with a similar yet different problem. Two other shops in town fired the parts cannon and the last shop was wanting to replace several modules (EBCM, ECM, TCM, and BCM), to the tune of several thousand dollars. Turns out the EBCM was causing part of the bus to go offline, making the ECM, TCM quit communicating. Wish I would have had the camera rolling so I could have done a wanna-be SMA video of the diag steps I took. Doing a powers and ground check at the EBCM connector, I found that one of the two grounds to the EBCM was good enough to light a test light, but not good enough to light up my "load bank" of halogen bulbs. Cleaned the eyelet for the ground, found and repaired the bad section of wire, and all the weird electrical gremlins went away. All done in about half an hour and I had an ecstatic customer. Thanks for being the inspiration to take on even more troubleshooting jobs than I already had been doing. You're the best!

Being from Arizona, the interior falls apart from sun rot 10,000 years before the chassis even sees any rust. Hello Eric love your content, I am a retired mechanic, I have worked in the auto and aviation field. Your comments on using dielectric grease on connectors is interesting. When I worked for the airlines our Hobart ground power units for aircraft had issues on foggy and rainy Days. The Hobart engineers would not say one way or another if we could use dielectric on connections we did any way and it eliminated almost all moisture problems. I have always used dielectric in weather pack connections while in the auto repair business especially under car. I think there is a Saturn TSB on ecm problem to use the grease on the connectors but don't quote on that. I am An old dog that will new tricks and that's why I watch you, Please enlighten me. 34mm axle nut... I recently decided to increase the capacity of my pneumatic impact hammer choices to my DIY efforts and added a monster IR 3/4" example to the mix. The tool was only a very small part of the necessary air plant upgrades required to feed the new monster. I added 1/2" quick-disconnects to the three air tanks (two 28 gallon and a 60 gallon). The big quick disconnects allow me to join all the tanks together if tackling an air volume intense project like the 3/4" impact, sand blasting, and/or plasma cutting. I worked up a couple of 1/2" quick-disconnect to four-port manifolds which have 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sizes on them for any future go-big tool additions. The new 3/4" tool, a month of parts orders, and installation effort of air plant infrastructure upgrades so the new toy would play... But, boy oh boy does that thing bring the beans!

I used to maintain a 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow which had LH wheel nut threads on the left side. Had both front hubs off once to regrease the bearings, and got them mixed up when I refitted them. Thank you for the video Mr O! Also thank you for linking the astro tool. I have been looking for a simpler way of busting those hubs loose.

I'm like you, live in the salt belt, Duluth, Mn. As a matter of fact, we are getting a lot of salt tonite, been having freezing rain, sleet, now snowing a lot. So yep, they are out laying down a lot of salt. They keep it up, Lake Superior will be a salt lake. lol. But I have a Chevy 1500 and always use the emergency brake, also my 21 Subaru. Love your vid's. Keep them up.

I used this method after I saw your video long ago. Didn't buy the Last Chance kit but used high grade stuff. No foot to prevent marring, but it worked slick.

Great video. Our VW went into limp mode with every fault light on the dash lit up with a abs fault on the bearing.

I made up a puller, using the wheel stud and a slap hammer. Two hits and it’s off.😊. Nice thing about the even bolt pattern.

Great video! Ordered the Astro tool as soon as you brought them out! I thought at first you were gonna bring in the traverse and find the intake tube full of oil but went to the wheel bearing.

I live in the rust belt south, North Central WV. I put antiseize on the splines of the axle whenever I have to remove any of mine so the second time it's easier. I've had them so bad I had to use an air hammer. There was one where 8 pound sledge wouldn't move the axle in the hub.

Eric, it sure was good to watch you beat on a Chevy. Relieved a lot of tension. So...curious. Do you tell the customer you fixed the problem and also mention there are three other problems (wheel bearings) that could show their ugly face down the road? Just curious. Thanks for Sharing!

And thank you for reminding me why i had someone else do a wheel bearing the last time i needed one.. last time i did one myself it was so stuck in there when it finally game out it came out in two pieces and the one race was stuck in the knuckle, and that was super not fun to get out.

Normally after I hear "It’s got the chubby rubba, the leatha, the hole in the roof" I see foot to the floor, slammed into drive, then slammed into reverse, a cloud of tire smoke, and then clunk clunk bang bang! 😂😂😂😂

Exact same problem just happened on my 2017 Traverse Premier a few days ago. Service Stabilitrak System, ABS off, Traction off, All Wheel Drive off. Right rear wheel bearing was the issue.

I find it way easier to turn the wheel toward the side I am working on when working on front brakes. This way I can use my impact to remove the caliper bolts-no more busted knuckles. TY for the fix. I have the same issue on an Acadia and was not sure how the reluctor wheel was supposed to look. Apparently not nice and shiny LOL. I have been a fan of your channel for years. Thought I might pass on a little trick to help.
