Ran into you and your dad today under the SUNOCO sign at Martinsville Speedway, my nine year old asked a thousand questions but I think he couldn’t put together who you were. My wife and I took the kids over to check out your dads truck and the Fairmont, amazed at what you’ve done! And thank you for not another LS build in a Ford! I felt like a kid meeting you and your dad. I spent a lot of time overseas supporting soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan after I got out of the Army as a contractor. Just wanted to say thanks for the videos you put out, they helped me and my family get through some hard times while I was gone. I couldn’t muster the words, didn’t have my special sunglasses that hide emotion.

I always liked the old TBI small block units The 350 was reliable and fairly good on gas A little more power than later 4.3 vortec at a little lower rpm band It always did well towing my bass boat Me and my dad got 350,000+ on his TBI 350 Personally i would like one with the 5 speed for towing, but im also partially to the 6.0 although it feels with the LS engines you have to spin them up quite high to get good torque. Awesome truck eric

GMT 400, the best Chevy truck ever.. anyway.. the connectors for the motor in general, are all unique. There is no way to mess it up. The fuel injectors unplug from the top of the injectors, and the wires come out of the base of the TBI through a solid rubber plug that simply pulls out. And I disagree with the "wheezing TBI" assessment. It actually is comparable to a 650 carb. The TBI system GM came up with was excellent. Very simple, very dependable. Your gonna have more headaches with whatever you put in there, and it wont even come close to how dependable the OEM TBI is.

When I drain the radiator I use the pumps you can get at harbor freight and use the smallest hose. Open the cap and run the hose down inside all the way down and start pumping it into a clean bucket(unless flushing). Once you get it started it will continue to drain until it’s empty. It’s a little slower but a lot less messy. I have also used it to pump the coolant into the overflow(with the return pinched off) low enough to change the water pump or change thermostat.
@Funtimes670
@Funtimes670 5 жыл бұрын
Oh, you can also use the same kind of pump to drain the transmission so it is mostly empty when you drop the pan.

A better fix for this vac lines is to replace them with stainless brake lines. Not something a shop would do but when it's your car and you're not deleting them, why not? The rubber vacuum fittings though, treat them with a good rubber conditioner and reuse them. Cheap replacements will last a year or two, if you treat your oem stuff right, it could last forever. If anyone knows of a sure fire way too get those rubber fittings that aren't junk(other than salvaging them from a wrecking yard), I'd appreciate the info.

An easier way to take the hood off for a no adjustment reinstallation take the end caps off the cowl grill and you can access the hinge pivot bolts you take the top spring bolts loose and then lay a hammer or something next to the hood latch lay the hood down on the propping device that you have chosen and then remove the hinge pivot bolts lift the hood off no adjustment required to re install I have done it by myself many times but 2 people definitely make it easier

Good video, i realize this is 2 years on but still, you don't have to remove the core, you can remove the tbi unit, and use a way smaller chain and you can clear it, its tight but ive done it twice, you did it the easiest way tho. good job :) also you can remove the wires from the tbi, just squeeze the plastic fingers on top of the injectors and pull up, then slide the wires out of the tbi, Love the vid Keep it up

Awesome video as always man. One thing I will say, even though it's probably already too late, swap out the starter for the small one while you can; the big starter is a poor design along with the tbi system in general (91 with the 350tbi and the 700r4 here lol). I'm actually planning an lm7 with 4l80e swap for mine along with a 5/7 drop and some old trans am snowflake style wheels.

I have to do the same dirty to rob the front end and body to install on a Turbo Diesel. I dread changing the wiring harness inside and out and removing the hydraulic clutch components from the wrecked truck to the new cab and changing the transmission tunnel and complete interior. It will go back with enough insulation and sound deadening and new gaskets it should be vault like. That seems a long way off right now. Hard as hell to find a good 8 foot bed which will be last since I don't have one.

Twist the chain to get a little more height out of the engine hoist. I have done this swap more times than I count l lay out the tools I am going to need before I get started. V6 to LS swap. Buy them expensive sell them cheap.

Good mechanics workmanship. It seems like they made it way overly complicated.
