They're both loosely based on the same true story, but I'd argue that this one is much more existentially terrifying. One thing to deal with infectious madness, isolation, loneliness and guilt -- trapped with a constant threat of dread, violence and eldritch horror dredged from fathoms unknowable, but quite another to live every day with a farting radge.

[insert "I'm not a chav and I find this funny" comment here] You're getting on at another person insulting you, but you are trying to insult the people who find this video funny, while at the same time disrespecting a country's language (which is a strong part of any country's culture). It's okay if you don't like it, but others find it humourous not because "it's Scottish" but because of the pained expression and delivery of the punchline. No need to get on your high horse about it.

That is such a narrow view of what education is for. Education is for vocational, theoretical, and cultural enrichment, and diminishing language diversity can only lead to cultural impoverishment. Furthermore, why do you think teaching kids a language (or dialect, if you must) that will make it easier for them to learn Nordic languages or Dutch (which had a strong influence on Scots) won't help them in a global working environment? That makes zero sense. Your high horse is looking pretty low.
Which definition? I'll give you the whole list 1. I have mental disabilities, none of them affect my physical body in any way shape or form. 2. I don't really care if you think I'm stupid or incompetient. I don't follow crowds. 3. I am not a sex slave. I'd be much happier if I was. I'm kidding about 3 ofcorse. The happier part I mean. ...These are definitions from Urban dictionary by the way. I don't generaly know what slang terms mean.

Ah but it's not slang any more. The SNP have decided Scots is a language and primary school kids are now being taught words like gonnae, windae, snaeman etc. So we need uniform spelling if it's a language. I think it's slang too by the way and it's a national disgrace it's being taught as a language.
@the180crew5 жыл бұрын
Fuck sake man I’m just here to enjoy some laughs and I go into the comment section to find a political debate from someone who’s clearly just here to pick a fight as I see no other comment here arguing against you. You’re not going to start some revolution by commenting on a KZbin video about your views (which I disagree with) on the Scots language, no one asked you too so just don’t.
@101wildgoose11 жыл бұрын
Yeah Scots is a dialect and thanks to the SNP it is being taught as a language in primary school. I certainly don't see the benefit in my son being taught words like windae instead of window, toon instead of town, tae instead of to, caur instead of car, whaur instead of were etc. Schools are supposed to prepare our kids for further education or work (in what is now a global working environment). Teaching them Scots is of no benefit to either.
@petermirtitsch12357 жыл бұрын
Scots is a LANGUAGE, and one of the THREE indigenous languages in Scotland officially recognised by the EU.

Your not gonna start a protest on a KZbin comment section I appreciate the scots language and clearly you don't we've seen you comment the same boring comment at least 5 times if you don't like the language then why watch this great video it's always gonna be the same like going to a school in Spain yer gonna get taught Spanish ain't ye well it's the same here I'm pretty sure the people who voted for snp knew what the right disition we don't ask you to start a big protest just leave it
@snipper1ie6 жыл бұрын
They're teaching the dialect in school? Seems strange, it's not another language, just different pronunciation of the English language. They're at the same thing in 'Norn Irlan', teaching Ulster Scots, which is English with an accent and a few colloquial words thrown in. English is a language, as is Gaelic and Gallic. I have a good few Ulster Scots/ Scots phrases and other words in my vocabulary, which I use every day, but, to me, it is English. I'm often chided about my 'Fancy talk', when I speak properly on certain occasions. I've yet to meet the Spaniard who would understand what a 'winda', a 'floour' or a 'door' was.

I'm all for language diversity (by all means teach my kids French, German, Italian etc) I just don't support the teaching of slang. The job of a teacher is to prepare children for further education or work and using words like toon, doon, whaur, caur, windae and gairden does nothing for either. I spoke to the heads of 7 secondary schools about the SNP introducing it and they were all horrified.
@petermirtitsch12357 жыл бұрын
That isn't slang; Scots is an internationally recognised indigenous language, (we have THREE in Scotland), and it is closer related to Middle English than Modern English. Part of the problem comes from snobbery, and anti Scottish sentiment when Scots is put down as being "slang". I was acquainted with a Scots poet and historian, and the language itself, although similar to Modern English, is quite different in some ways, with regards to pronunciation, syntax and grammar.
@petermirtitsch12357 жыл бұрын

You are completely missing the point. This show was never posted anywhere claiming to be an educational tool, you have tried to imply that it is. This was a show to make people laugh, full stop. There are some things in the show that might not make everyone laugh but it certainly was not trying to damage the Scottish people, their dialect, culture or heritage or stunt people’s intellect. I love the show because it makes me smile and given the world we live in today, we need all the shows possible to show us that’s there’s still something we can enjoy.
