Chewin' the Fat was a sketch show where The Big Man came from. So did Jack and Victor, which became Still Game. If you don't like the full show of Still Game, the sketches from Chewin' the fat might be more to your liking, but that can be one just for you. Jack from Still Game and The Big Man are the same actor btw (Ford Kiernan).

Im from Glasgow. Last year my friend and her man stopped to help someone change a tyre on their car at the side of the road in the West End. Another older guy came up to help and went to his very fancy car nearby for a jack, and although he looked familiar no-one said anything. The three of them got the tyre changed and my friend and her man headed off. It was only after theyd left, they realised it was Ford Keirnan who had joined them to help. Completely unassuming👍

Chewing the fat and only an excuse "borrowed" quite a few ideas. Only an excuse could get a pass because it was all reaction to football events. Chewing the fat, just ripped off other TV and Films, with a supposed Scottish twist.

@@WeAreThePeople1690 I agree. Nothing original or particularly funny about chewin the fat. The problem with only an excuse was it was the same impersonation with a different tracksuit and wig on. And they got away with that for what must have been 20 years. Talk about a gullible public.

Scottish insults are some of the funniest I've heard! "I'll rearrange yer face so bad yer son's gonnae be crying to his mammy on why there's a bliddy pizza ootside the letterbox begging to come in!" (That one got me the most out of all of these) Also if you're looking for more Scottish comedies to watch, "Still Game" and "Rab C. Nesbitt" are easily the best ones. "Still Game" is more recent and more popular, but I prefer "Rab" myself - some brilliant one-liners and incredible acting to match! Copyright shouldn't be too much of an issue with "Still Game" but I think it has caused a few minor issues, but "Rab" on the other hand won't be a problem at all as every episode is on KZbin already.

If you're looking for a Scottish sketch to react to, this is the ultimate! This show would appear on tv on New Years Eve, (Hogmanay) and is called Scotch and Wry. The actors name is Rikki Fulton, and he was/still is adored by many of us Scots!
