@@Chewjitsu Your videos have helped me as well. From blue belt to a new brown belt there are still small details that always help me improve. Just the other day a supervisor of mine told me that he finally started training and that your videos helped him build the confidence to get started.

Went to my first class yesterday, the paper cutter choke was the first submission I learned. I’m excited to finally start my ju jitsu journey

We just learned the paper cutter as a setup for a head'n'arm triangle choke, this supplements it quite well.

Thanks Chewie! Have been struggling to finish this paper cutter in recent weeks as an addition to the armbar you showed in the series. Rly good details with the tightening of the lapel and arm. Previously, I was sinking in the choke downwards with only my forearm and although I did get the choke, it was with more effort than needed. Much appreciated!

I just want to say thank you so much! I don't know what's going on at my gym, but I feel like I've been blue for 4 months now (rolling a year), done 7 tournaments (placed in them all) and still only a two stripe white. I've submitted most of the blues consistently at my gym (aggressive roles), but when It comes to get stripes, I never get them. I am a bigger stronger guy, but, I am very technical in my opinion (for a white belt). Just so happens, I was looking for tools to add to my side control game and found this. I was able to submit a relatively legit purple belt (visiting) in around 4 minutes! After that, he went and semi-chewed the coach out, and the coach apologized. I got my two additional stripes, and the purple screams Yay !!! for the sandbagger. I still feel like I probably should have been blue, but anyways thanks Chewy. One step closer.

Just wanted to start with I love your videos and you’ve made the whole bjj experience so much easier, second I have a question for you and I think it might be a unique one. I’m currently at a Gracie Barra (a good one don’t worry) and I love my professor victor and nivian, and pretty much everyone there, as well as I kinda get special attention from my coaches and professors as I’m far more obsessed with martial arts than a large majority of the students, and I really do appreciate it from them as I’m basically getting free private lessons, but there’s a catch, I truly prefer No-gI, as in it’s really what I’d like to compete in, and they only have 2-3 classes a week. I don’t hate the gi, but I can’t help but feel as I waste a lot of time if my main goal is to do no-gi, almost feels as if I’m training Muay Thai for a karate fight if that makes sense. Hopefully that wasn’t too confusing.

Hey, this is the first sport I have ever actually taken interest in. I found that the biggest problem I have with it is Number one: implementing the techniques we learn into rolling, and number two: when someone I am sparring is bigger than me. Usually when I spar it’s again a person 100 pounds heavier than me and I get scatter brain when they press their weight on me and I hate being in that position and have no idea what to do from there. Any tips? Great videos very inspirational

@tdhmaerskb 3 жыл бұрын
every 20 pounds is equal to 1 level higher belt. You shouldnt be going up against such larger opponents, try sparing with others same age and weight so that you can get some real practice in.

Great detail using body weight. I've found I get too far away (trying to get low, so my chest ends up on the ground) and just try to use my arms.

There's a sneaky Americana if his near arm is trapped on the other side of your torso, initially. If you know the one I'm referring to, can you film a tutorial on that?

Hey I got a question. I injured my self during warm up at a bjj center. I was wondering if you have like how much should I be flexible to not hurt my self. And how strong should I be. I mean like I'm weak as hell. I couldn't do half of the warm up drills and when we came to the technique part I was exhausted. So before my next try I want to know how I need to do before. So I don't hurt myself again.
