I went to Peru last month and it was amazing. Beautiful country, gentle, humble people and amazing food. It was unusually hot when I went due to climate change. Laundry service is cheap and fast. Wear comfortable shoes. So many steps to climb. No AC in any ot the hotels. We asked for a fan. A must see country. I didn’t get altitude sickness. Did get stomach virus a few days before leaving. Gargled with tap water. Don’t do it. So glad I went.

I remember going from Trujillo to NY and I thought because the sun was out it was hot but it wasn’t I was freezing cold in NY. And we Peruvian don’t dry our hair right after shower so I went out to wait for the train and my hair got frozen, it was funny but I was young so nothing happened to me.

I was aware that they seasons were opposite ours in North America, however I was not aware that there was a difference between Machu Picchu and the town it’s in. Cannot recall the name. Hot is relative, to me 95+ is hot, so if Lima is in the 70s then I consider that good. But it sounds like I will need layers or something for cold nights when I visit. Thanks for that level of detail

I have traveled to Peru for business 3 times to buy Maca before Covid. I have gone back 4 more times to be with with my girlfriend, fiancee, and now wife. We got married in Cusko on 8/2/2024. Download drive from the airport they charge $70 dollars from the airport from Jorge Chavez international airport. But it is true Austrid Y Gaston is a great restaurant in Lima in the old governors house in Lima. I love Peru and I have lived in the Patagonia of Argentina.

Yes, it is definitely possible to navigate transportation but may be a challenge speaking no Spanish. Many cities have English signage and announcements, and there are also helpful apps and maps available to guide you along the way. If you feel uncomfortable just book a tour as well
