Oh sis I completely understand the anxiety! You deffo need to not see the big picture (most annoying thing to be told, I was told this ALL THE TIME throughout college) but yeah! As you mentioned you are going to be hiring someone in the spring which is why you need the accountant and lawyer but ITS SPRING! That can chill for a while, first things first is storage and transport to your new studio by the sounds of things which is less daunting me thinks! ALSO! YOUR TAXES! Practically done? AMAZING! Reward yourself for that it is definitely a big load off! And the election stuff, confirmed today that tr*mp definitely lost after a recount, he’s being a big baby throwing a tantrum so I don’t think there’s any worry there. Deep breaths you’ve got it!

“There’s no point in doing something if you’re not immediately good at it” I think that’s my motto, I don’t want it to be but it is and letting go of the perfectionism is ssssoooooo hard! This right here, is why I haven’t done anything I want to do, like opening a shop, wanting to be self employed yada, yada, yada....because my head says, you’re not good at it so just don’t do it. But, thanks for reminding me that it’s just my head speaking not my heart!

Same is with me too. But I have started making art again because I read somewhere that "The difference between the art you want to create and what you end up creating is called as THE GAP. And the more you make stuff, the more that gap closes." So I guess this would work someday.

Cheyenne, hearing you talk about scrolling through your feed and comparing yourself to all these other artists was like, wow, relateable. I feel that way all the time, and I just want you to know that YOU are someone I look at and go, wow, my work is never gonna be that good. You are doing great!

A lot of people might be subscribed to you bc of your art (which I am one of those ppl) but never had I ever come across someone who's anxiety was so similar to my own until watching your videos. For a long time I felt so so alone because social anxiety remains the most commonly known anxiety to the general public. I remember watching one of your older videos where I think you did a voiceover talking about your mental health and it resonated with me so much I could have cried. Ty for being such a powerful human being and making another human being feel less alone.

when you talked about how your anxiety and perfectionism made you think that there was no point in doing something if you're not immediately good at it, and how you feel embarrassed when you're bad at something, i really related to that because as somebody who started off with art relatively late as compared to my peers and others pursuing the sort of thing that i am, i often feel like everything i make needs to be perfect and if it isn't then i get really embarrassed and in a way, ashamed? i also really understood the imposter syndrome point because it's hard when you see people excelling in the thing that you desperately want to in as well. i admire so so many artists, you included, and at some point in the near future, i want to open my own small shop, but i always feel as though there are people that are already so good at this, and that it'd be odd, and in a way useless for me to do it. i'm currently working on overcoming all these feelings but hearing you talk about it sort of comforted me because i felt like i'm not alone in thinking this, and that all these feelings and thoughts are a part of the process so thank you so so much for talking about it!

Cheyenne fear is normal with growth, how real you are about this choice is refreshing and I empathize bc I’m kind of sick of YT’ers saying oh I’m just sooo excited, like there isn’t another side to things like this. But I know you’ll do great! You inspire me bc how you are so organized and share that side of entrepreneurship with us is welcomed. I’m so glad you talk about this. I decided to follow my dreams to be a full time artist at almost 30. However I’m so jealous and shameful of myself for not being as good as the artist I admire. Which is absurd because they have years of experience over me. I’ve always had natural talent but as an adult it has become something I’ve ignored for the sake of responsibility. Now I’ve been trying to create freely because I just can’t. Like you said if I don’t do something perfect it isn’t worth doing at all. So I’ve just been creatively stuck because I’m so afraid of making art mistakes instead of expressing myself because even then expressing myself has been perceived as bad in “adult proper” world. Thanks for talking about this. Makes me feel soo less alone.

Sending all of the love and ease your way! Something that has really helped me start to shift my mindset regarding comparing my work to others is the fact that it's truly impossible to see what goes on behind the scenes in someone else's head, or someone else's art practice! So if I'm looking at a painting and my inner monologue is going on and on about how beautiful their use of color is, and why can't my work have that quality, I've been trying to remind myself that that artist has years of foundations in different ideas and concepts than my own that led them to that place! And of course I can't expect myself to make work like theirs, or on the same level as theirs -- I have a completely different set of starting blocks! And that doesn't make mine any less valid, it just means I have to figure out how to use them for myself. And this also sort of ties into being bad at something starting out - how in the world can I compare a painting I've made to someone's who has spent a career crafting their skills in that area? This has been long and ramble-y, but basically you're not alone in feeling this way and it takes a lot of un-leaning and patience. Sending good thoughts your way!
