Chiang Mai: Group Motorcycle Ride

We join a group ride this week with Krusty Riders based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
We speak to some of the guys to learn more about why group rides here are so popular.
Have a look at the roads running through three northern Thai provinces: Chiang Mai, Lampang and Lamphun.

I had a first yesterday on the way to Pai. THREE cars coming towards me 😂 when they were all supposed to be in one lane. The two lanes on my side were obviously fair game lol

Used to love ridding my CBR250 around Chaing Mai. Even rode my little Honda 110 CZi from Pattaya to Chiang Mai twice 😎

So many roads to choose from... I like the 1346 up to Hinoki Land, The 1095 to Pai (who can't like that?), the 108 through Op Luang Park, Highway 11 to Lampang through the middle of the night, the 1081 in Nan, the 118 to Chiang Rai of course.

Mine is also a 2018. I bought it last year in BKK. I absolutely love it, and whilst it's clearly not designed etc as a touring bike, I find it's magic on the roads here. Powerful, nimble and enough torque for days! Thanks for watching and subscribing. It's great to hear we're reaching far and wide!

Great video! Hope to ride with you guys in the next few months. I appreciate the tip about buying riding gear before coming to Thailand. Anyone have experience bringing a helmet in your luggage, any problems with customs?

I don't think you'd have any bother with customs if you bring it in your luggage or even as a carry on. For quality, helmets here are more expensive.

Ive done 4 big bike trips around thailands north over the past few years and look forward to exploring much much more. The one thing I am getting the most conflicting answers to currently is around buying a new bike in Thailand. I contacted Kawasaki CHiang Mai and was told i need a certificate of residency, Ive had people say a business card from the hotel can be used to obtain a COR and others telling me you need a lease. If you have any clarity on this subject I would love to hear about it )

@@piercingpete you'll be made very welcome with Krusty's. I believe the CoR has just changed a bit where you can have it emailed to you. I'd need to ask around for an update. The last one I got in September 2020 I didn't have a permanent address.

Justin knows it! Best road in thailand is the 1081….and the 1148 and the 1256, and the 1097, and the 1093 and the 106, and the 108……oh wait, you said best……..1081!

The 1091 is also way up there! The 120, short but sweet. It's reportedly finish now as well. I forget the road number but the road running southeast from Phu Chi Fah is fantastic.

We're spoiled in the north as riders for so many different reasons. The group thing up here is great and the community, in my experience at least, has always been very welcoming. I've basically learned how to ride by going out with groups like this.
