In January - February, 2020 I spent a couple weeks in the north of Thailand exploring the area by motorcycle. This is part 2/2 of my adventure series through the area. In this episode I ride a Honda CRF 250 with a couple of friends from Chiang Rai to the Golden Triangle and explore the bordering region near Myanmar and Laos.
Part 1 - Mae Hong Son Loop: • Thailand motorcycle ad...
In Chiang Rai we checked out some exquisite temples and the International Hot Air Balloon festival which was one of the highlights of my entire trip to Thailand!
I'm excited to share this adventure with you all. Thanks so much for coming along for the ride!
Highlights:
Blue Temple - • Chiang Rai and Golden ...
Golden Triangle Park - • Chiang Rai and Golden ...
Phu Chi Fa National Park - • Chiang Rai and Golden ...
White Temple - • Chiang Rai and Golden ...
Hot Air Balloon Festival - • Chiang Rai and Golden ...
Shot, produced and edited by me with a little help on the camera work by Thomas and Luigi. Thanks guys. 😊

Thanks for watching! If you haven’t already checked out Part 1 of my Thailand series, you can watch that here! ▶️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHmWhJ1phrV5h6c FAQs: ❓How much was the motorcycle❓ Rental cost was about 1000 Baht/day ❓When did you travel❓ I travelled in January/February before the pandemic was declared and while it was still considered safe to travel ❓Do you travel alone❓ I spent half the trip solo and half the trip with friends

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull (she pulls :)) me back in!" --- Micheal Corleone, Godfather III. The terms of elegant, classy and graceful came to mind when I saw you in black..., but have I used the word "stunning' before? Yes, of course I have... ! How did the little 250 did? I thought it would be a little tight on those mountain roads, since they usually do not have a lot of torque...but the mountains and views were out of this world! How were you treated over at that triangle area? I thought they had some kind of war going on in that area over there.... However, I have ridden a vintage single cylinder 2 valve 250 cc Jawa, which was a Czech military bike from the 40's to 50's I think.., the vibration of the thing was so bad (especially if we got the oil and gas mixture wrong) not only you wouldn't be able to see anything from the rear view mirrors because they shook like a malaria patient, but it also prevented you to open your mouth when the motor was on, because there's a real risk for you to lose a part of your tongue...and we had to make a rule of not allowing any of our buddies to ride if he had an upset stomach, because it would shake anything out of you in less than a minute! Hey, but chicks loved it, it was a chick magnet for sure, so we just took turns to give chicks rides. How come you didn't get onto one of those beautiful hot air balloons? It would be so much fun! But just be able to take pictures right underneath one of them was also fantastic! Flying ( to get a solo license) is one of the things I would like to get it done. But first is to learn how to play Polo, then Sailing and then Flying...(those are all big here in New England) in that order :), because I think have done pretty much everything else... Would love to take you to some black tie events and fun raisers to bleed some hearts, but I might have to tip the waiters more because they would have to mop up the pools of blood on the floor after the party..... . it will be totally fine with me. P.S. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

I usually pick up a big bike in Chiang Mai every year. I ride the Mai Hong Son loop and then head to Chiang Khong. A friend of mine and fellow biker has Siam Tara resort just south of the town and right on the river. From there I do day trips, and then head back to CM after one night in Phayao. Hwy's 1155,1093 and 1148 are must rides. Hwy 1148 is called the Hwy to Heaven. One mistake on it's twisties and if you've been good,that's where you are headed. No mistakes and it's a "heavenly" ride.

What are the thoughts of buying a dealer used Blade in Vietnam (Hanoi) and riding it through Cambodia + Thailand returning to HCMC to sell afterwards; instead of renting at the various locations?

Definitely! In Chiang Mai I rented from M25 and they were quite vigilant with their bikes and they were cleaned thoroughly too. I was impressed... but in Chiang Rai the service was not up to the same standard.

Hi Megan, I am very interested in your jacket, with the heat etc of Thailand how did it perform and any downsides to it. I have been looking at the men’s version but would like an authentic opinion from someone who has used it. Great job on your videos. Thanks

Thanks for the work you do to take us along. This one looked like a ton of fun! It is spectacularly beautiful there. What did you think about the Honda CRF250? I see that the headlight failed you, but, other than that. That CRF250 is a bike I’ve had my eye on for a while. I’m really leaning toward the Kawasaki KLX250, though. Were you actually there during the COVID pandemic? Happy Trails
@MeganKaptein
@MeganKaptein 3 жыл бұрын
Allen, I had a blast on the CRF250. The seat was really hard though, so not great for long distance touring. I enjoyed how lightweight it was compared to my X and had more confidence doing things I wouldn't try on my bigger bike. I was in Thailand Jan-Feb, before the pandemic was declared.

To my knowledge, yes! It was pretty tall but quite comfortable for me, other than the hard seat which didn’t make for the most cushy ride.

Thanks Al! The bike was so much fun! I stayed primarily on road so I didn't really get to see the capabilities but it was fun riding off curbs and doing things I wouldn't necessarily have the confidence to do on a big bike. The fuel tank is quite small though, and the seat was way harder than what I am used to.
