I have one of these things and love it. The sights on mine were WAAAY off and can't really be adjusted far enough to work. I put a red-dot sight on it and have it hitting dead on now. Also, the little ammo holder doesn't hold all of the brands of ammo I tried in it. If you put another sight on it, then it won't fit in the little pack that comes with it anymore. I use a bigger bag for it that holds ammo, ear and eye protection as well as targets and a first aid kit. Scored my first two kills with it helping my dad remove woodchucks from under his barn foundation last weekend.

I've wanted one of these ever since I saw one at the local gunshop that was in for repairs. It was in a rough vehicle accident so I didn't take it as a mark against the rifle itself, but I just love the look.

I would love to see a "Big Bear" version chambered in something substantial. Ideally 45.70. If i could have that I would never go bacpacking without it. (actually this is another one of those where they really should have just made it easy to swap barrels then sold a barrel for every caliber under the sun.)

Yes, definitely pass on the pistol grip. It's made of cheap flimsy plastic and feels strange in the hand. I bought one, and I keep it in my pocket just for the cleaning kit. For a .22 caliber survival rifle at that price, I think it's quite good for what it's made for. The adjustable rear sight and crisp trigger are great, and the threaded barrel and the rails offer a lot of good options. I hate that front sight, though.

These guns are great but they're not as light as you'd think. My Henry AR 7 is slightly lighter than the little badger. A bit of advice, use a ranger band or some other type of system to hold the extra ammo into that ammo holder. It doesn't hold very well and you will be surprised to learn that your ammo has escaped if you carry the rifle around such as when hunting. I learned this the hard way one time on a squirrel hunt when I looked at the ammo holder and found a couple rounds had jumped ship. .
@herculesrockefeller29848 жыл бұрын
Really? The Henry is lighter? I was about to replace my ar7 in my backpack with one of these, but not if the badger is heavier. Bummer, thanks for the info
@greenlawnfarm58277 жыл бұрын
And the little badger is made of pot metal. The sights, rails, and thread protector are plastic. It is a nice gun for a 3 year old tho.
@8Jory7 жыл бұрын
Hercules Rockefeller I'd still take a metal wire frame stock over an abs plastic stock. plus there are fewer components to take care of, and thus fewer things that can go wrong. not that the ar7 is unreliable, just risk reduction so to speak.
@enorytall99197 жыл бұрын
is what reality is 3.5 LB heavier than 3, Because the henry at 7 is 3.5 lbs and the chiappa is 3lbs

ok I just checked. it's called the AR7 and has already been mentioned lots
@scriptguru810 ай бұрын
@@Zefferum AR7 is a famous rifle, but the stock is very thick. Take a look at Marlin Pappoose - it's 22LR take down semi-auto as well, very light, but has better ergonomics IMO. With better sights (I've used Williams fiber optic sights) it's very accurate.

racknload: thanks for the video. great job, as usual. the point of shooting a little rifle like this is: it is not the amount of rounds you put down range as fast as you can, but how much fun you can have while shooting. if a rifle like this can make a shooter smile, and let them have fun, well then why not? why not shoot it? and smile while you're doing it? yeah there are modifications that people have and will do to this rifle, but either way, it is fun to shoot, and fairly cheap to boot. i'm picking mine up in .17hmr, soon. are there mods i am going to do to this rifle? sure. are the mods gonna be extensive? no. but that's something i'd LIKE to do. whether i do them or not...well, that's my choice. but at the end of the day, i'm still gonna smile, just at the sheer fun of shooting little holes in paper, tin cans, 2-liters, or whatever i choose to shoot at that day on the range. and after all, when all is said and done, isn't having fun what shooting sports are all about anyway? and as always: semper fi, carry on!!

They're cool little guns for what they are and what they cost. But their shortcommings kind of leave me wanting an M6 Survival. * The rear aperature sight wobbles all over and feels like it will break off * The rails are all plastic and are too close to mount things on (had to replace mine) * The hex screws on the rails will strip if you breathe on them. * Super short stock makes it uncomfortable for extended plinking sessions * Hard to find a hammer spur wide enough for this hammer, had to modify mine On the plus side, mine's super accurate with sub sonic ammo and is probably tough enough to live a long time if you're not taking it apart often to change things.
@TheNickathome8 жыл бұрын

Was it so hard for chiappa to put a spring loaded ejector?
@varanthe8th6095 жыл бұрын
Dreamcrusher - MKV probably because you don’t want to lose the round in case you don’t fire it
@dreamcrusher-mkv23465 жыл бұрын
Varan the 8th you can catch it but 22 is so cheap it really doesn't matter. My Stevens model 94 (single shot 20 gauge) has a spring loaded ejector and it's great. Another down side to this gun is you have to break it open fully to extract the casing which greatly increases the amount of time to do a follow up shot.
@varanthe8th6095 жыл бұрын
Dreamcrusher - MKV I agree, that is a big downside. It’s a very, very simple mechanism and that’s part of the appeal. It allows little room for mechanical failure and makes it very small and lightweight. I personally might buy one because I hunt and I never expect to fire a second shot unless the animal is wounded and is dying. In that case, loading another shot wouldn’t be a problem.
