VISA and Mastercard has been pushing heavy censorship onto Japan for the last few years all in the name of brand protection according to Head of Visa Japan. Now we see where their true priorities are and how they don't actually care about people. These reports span back to 2019 that they actively ignored.

I think this revelation is going to have an adverse effect, again they're going to now only feel more pushed to ban content because people are holding them responsible for this. And keep in mind 3 years or so ago they did pressure OF to ban adult content, you can google it for articles about it still. Obviously this failed because OF realized "hang on, that's like 99% of our revenue" so they didn't go through with the ban despite announcing it. But I figured that meant visa and mastercard pulled out, but they didn't? So I guess that means they're more bark than bite (which would be a good thing for ignoring their threats)

It could be that they're still doing it. When fictional things affect you, it's a you problem not a us problem, if you make it a us problem then we deal with YOU(the one who does not know how to differentiate between reality and fiction) not with the fiction. There are good ways fiction can affect you, through lessons it can teach, but, that kind of fiction is age appropriate and NOT the kind of fiction we are talking about.

As far as I'm aware they actually did try to pull out of OF, and I thought they did. Which is why a few years ago OF decided to move away from adult content, until 90% of their content and creators moved to a different site and they realized they'd lose all their revenue if they followed through, so instead they didn't. But I figured that meant that Visa and Mastercard would have pulled out. Which again I think they shouldn't get to decide on any of this, the payment method isn't responsible for the content and shouldn't be responsible for the content. That's how you get situations like them trying to ban the things they do in japan.

Disgusting, Japan needs to kick VISA/MasterCard OUT of Japan. Establish their own payment processors to help support Japanese Companies. And isolate themselves from the Western World.

Have been saying this for years. Its 100% racism and Japan has been the punching bag for as long as i remember. Japanese software, manga, anime and merchandise are in direct competition with American and general western products. Gone are the days when a western company would rebrand something from Japan (see transformers, power ranger, robotech) This is why Nintendo gets a bad rap in the media where Sony (Japanese, but really controlled by the west) and Microsoft dont have the same level of scrutiny.

We all know the west is trying to force it's views and morals on Japan and other cultures under various guises to completely eradicate their cultural identity. Let's not forget the West's answer for Japan's declining birthrate is to simply allow more people to immigrate to Japan.....meanwhile two tourist were recently arrested for doing the beast with two backs in public AT A SHRINE. Is it any wonder Japan is starting to think about new more strict rules for people visiting let alone joining the country?

Wait I thought on only fans you could only give pictures of yourself. And in order to have an onlyfans account you had to prove your age with a state ID or your social security number. So you mean to tell me that only fans was letting children on their site, and letting them sell images of themselves. Why do they even care. Like seriously. Credit Cards already have a terrible reputation as is, being one of the most unsafe ways to pay in the world with technology so old its laughable. But especially the US uses them like cracy, so they make their money. I only had one since its the easiest method for international payments back when i got one. If they would have kept their mouth shut, and just took the cash they already making, they would have been fine. But I guess Brand Perception is sooo important these days that you need to make stands on everything. Like wtf. There is not one payment method that has no crosses to bear. Every single one has been used for criminal activity in the past and will be used in the future. Caring as a company what your clients use your service for is just stupid, especially with something like credit cards.

I would love to see actions to revoke operational rights to companies like Visa and MC and other payments services that overstep like this. Visa/MC are pretty much money in America now most people don't use cash. So as long as the company is not blatantly doing illegal things they should stay out of it. We have already seen Patreon and other payment process restrict political content that broke no laws. And we cannot have private companies wielding power like this that is a severe violation of private rights. However I do feel Visa should not be held liable for bad behavior on sites like Only fans though, the government should exercise the existing laws to prosecute people doing bad things here and the government (not Visa) should go after Only Fans if they are not doing a reasonable job keeping this content off, Visa should not be the arbiter of virtue here they are a payment process and that is what they should stay. And if these Processors want to continue to cross these lines we need to stick it to them.

In the end, i fail to see how this stuff cannot be regulated. As a card issuer, you simply must be impartial and just process any transactions and cannot make up 'moral guidelines' or whatever kind of guidelines to decide what to handle and what to not handle. Such guidelines can be so easily abused to offer for example services like: A company pays said card issuer to deny transactions for a competitor. And these things can get so convoluted with backdoor deals, that there is a real and very likely chance for harm and manipulation of the economy. Which is simply something, no financial provider in any shape or form should be allowed to do. That rabbit hole goes technically as deep as anyone wants and because there is no possible way to really make things go right, this simply cannot be allowed or left unchecked. We are thinking ourselves as a smart species, but fail to uphold even the basics in modern society, just baffling.

The anti fiction crowd are doing severe harm. I've even had a follower literally break mentally and develop another more harmful dissociation as a result of being told by someone who is supposed to be a fellow CSA victim, that they should be hurt if they're attracted to a specific kind of cartoon character . Now what I didn't know at the time is that this individual was aware that you could develop the paraphilic interest in children because of things like a stroke brain damage and a tumor. So when you tell someone who is aware of that kind of thing, having a medical condition that makes you experience and attraction you didn't give consent to even if what you're attracted to is cartoons. Yeah that's going to break anyone mentally. And this kind of behavior is coming from individuals who claim to also be CSA victims they're actively attacking fellow CSA victims for being capable of telling the difference between what happened to them and a cartoon.
