I just received my Ace Frehely blue sparkle Chibson les paul last week. It was from a different seller, but it had the same sticker over the headstock, LS Custom. I absolutely love this guitar. I already have to change the 3-way switch. It doesn't always work when it is in the down position. Not a big deal to me. Mine also has the big pots in it. There is nothing else i will change. Sure the pickups could be better, but they are good enough for me to jam wirh in my man cave. No regrets about this purchase!!! Thanks for the review. I was leaning towards getting the Cherry Burst Ace Frehely les paul, util i saw this video a number of months ago. Then i knew i wanted the blue sparkle. Thanks so much for the videos.

I bought a Chibson a few years ago and it actually came with Epiphone hardware. But I changed the pots and put EMGs in it with Wilkinson tuners and bridge. Plays like a beast.

I find it just insane how you can buy that guitar for 300 bucks, but Epiphone is selling the new Kramer Dave Mustaine V for 1500 and it isn't even close being as fancy as that one. I just can't buy the V for that cost without the better inlays, ebony fretboard and binding. Very cool guitar.

After playing the guitar for a week, it's amazingly a great instrument. Neck is a little wider, than I expected, however it's easy to play. Supposedly the neck is 1959 dimensions.

BASS player here, my DEAN edge 1 6 string is made in China, excellent instrument, bought from a us dealer, I've seen you-tubers having big name instruments ( sometimes custom shop and very costly ) to have to send them to a tech to ' finish the job ', bad frets, etc. Buy from quality builders, period. As for me, I have a short scale bass project to build my self from scratch, I'm tired of corporations selling us under grade instruments, so I'll make my own..... Excellent video.

I am member of Les Paul forum and another member had Gibson Custom shop building the sparkle blue burst and sold it later. Ace some how was sold it and he used it around Anomaly years. I had one made to, but with Anomaly headstock hand painted. It came with a 5 way switch and toogle, cheap electronics and Wilkinson pick ups; I changed pick ups, pots and electronics.

So I just bought one of these off eBay only it's cherry heritage sunburst. I didn't know it was an Ace Frehley "signature" model. The Gibson on the head stock was covered with a large gold sticker that was ugly at best. I bought it knowing it was not a Les Paul but I loved the finished. That being said, I filed the fret ends replaced the strings, and dropped the action. Once I found out I could remove the gold thing on the head stock I was amazed it said Gibson!! I'm actually quite happy with this guitar and it plays well, with a nice finish. For $230 shipped I'm surprised. I also painted the switch covers to be rid of the mirror finish! Couldn't find any to fit so I painted them. The trees rod cover was also mirror finished so I replace it with a real Gibson customer one. Not to try and pass it as a real Gibson but it looks better. I could have done worse for $230. Thanks for sharing this video.

Believe me when I say that 310.00 for this guitar, set up, frets not needing to be leveled, tuners good, and if the pickups don't feed back, you got yourself a REAL bargain my friend! I own a few Chibsons myself, and all of them needed work when I first got them. In each of the cases with mine, I spent around 200.00 to maybe 320.00 and still hand to upgrade all of them! Not complaining, they're like my children now and I wouldn't part with any of them! Hey man, thanks for this video. I'm an Ace Frehley fan as well... ✌

I spent several years professionally spray painting in a booth, so I may just have to do one for myself. might be fun to spray on wood for a change. that's what those cheap kits are good for.

I just picked up a Goryo Yuto Chibson from dhgate and it's actually really decent besides the crap hardware and pickups, took about 11 weeks to get it but it's worth it, I sawpped out the pickups and electronics with Active EMG's and got new tuners and tefflon nut, got a M8 bridge stud adapter so I can put an American bridge on it and leveled the frets and set it up. night and day difference and sounds amazing. I paid about $300 for the guitar shipped and put well over $400 into it for parts

Got one of these last year and basically gutted the whole thing for upgrades to match his Rock Honors one with the clear pickguard. Put a full set of chrome dimarzios, new pots, toggle switch, tuners, bridge… came out BEAUTIFUL!

I was in Guitar Center many years ago and they had a Gibson version but in the Ace traditional cherry sunburst. I am sorry I didn't buy it. Only reason I didn't was I owned an SG with three humbuckers and I learned I don't like guitars with three humbuckers. But it would have been cool to have in my collection. Every time I have looked for that knock off I cant seem to find it. Anyway, cool guitar. Enjoy it in good health.

I almost feel like all the entry level guitars from reputable brands are made in China are actually fairly good(besides your new Kramers set up job)... Just got mine in today. Luckily nothing was broken. It shipped from China and took about 2 weeks. The only issues are there is a decent amount of "orange peel" (bumpy clear coat that wasn't sanded smooth enough) on the back of the neck, a faint red line thru Ace's face on the headstock, and a spot where they sprayed too much of the glitter stuff which is only visible at a certain angle. Nothing too bad but definitely not as perfect as yours, but that's kinda what I expect from a Chibson anyway. Also they put a black toggle switch plate on mine for some reason (I think normally it doesn't have one at all)

That is really pretty. Sparkle catches my eye and I would have had to put metal covers if they didn't have any and clear knobs if they didn't have any in the bowling. If it didn't have it and it's got likely stainless steel frets because they're rounded wow I wouldn't have much to do except maybe level to Frets if they're a little bit out and they usually are

I currently own 6 Gibson Les Pauls as well as an ESP Eclipse, an Edwards LP Custom and 4 Epiphone Les Pauls. I’ve had Chibsons and liked them, I currently have two Chenders that I love. I love guitars and the Chibsons have there place. They’re not taking anything from Gibson. It’s not like I was gonna buy a Les Paul but bought a Chibsons instead. It’s something fun for people until they can get a legit one. Or just enjoy the Chibson.

Make sure you pay attention to the maker. Not every guitar on the page is made by LS Custom shop. It will say it right in the middle of the photo in a watermark. They have a few Hetfield copies, too.

Very cool guitar I was searching Chibsons Cause I just bought 1950s “inspired” tuxedo Les Paul custom …. And like yours …it had drool inducing looks. it’s with my tech now…it was almost perfect fretboard bridge nut ..on and on Only 3 issues tuners were lame. Pickups cheap. And electronics need to be replaced Altogether with labor will set me back $700 (For a guitar I normally wouldn’t be able to afford) Sure epiphone makes a damn good one that cost 799$ but you don’t get the satisfaction of putting it together unless you spend more. Upgrading the epiphone (And still it won’t have the look and feel of Gibson). I was worried about the horror stories about Chibsons too but people do luck out at times

The ongoing “joke” about the AF Chibsters is the Family Guy looking pic of Ace. 😅 This one has it as well, but when you compare it to a Gibson, it’s actually closer than people like to admit. I love the Chibsters. I’ve owned several. I just wish their Fender “replicas” were a little better. They leave out a few really important things. They don’t use a truss rod plug, or trim. Some use black plastic plugs on a US replica that’s supposed to be walnut. They use Squier bridges, and the bodies don’t tend to be the full 1 3/4” thickness. 😕 The truss rod plug and body thickness are deal breakers. You can’t get the “feel” if those two things are wrong. I’ll keep buying Chibsters until they sort it out. 🤷🏼‍♂️ You did talk me into a Frankenstein though.

Looks like u did really well with your purchase which goes to show that if your prepared to look around that there's no reason why u shouldn't get a decent guitar. Chipsons have a bad name and people will bag Chipsons and then play their Epiphone. A lot of companies have factorys in China so I wasn't to surprised to see the Epiphone tailpiece. Maybe if they didn't make counterfeit guitars and called them something else or even just had no name, just blank, then I'm sure people would think differently about them coz some of them are great guitars. Even if u wanna buy one as a starting block for a rebuild and replace all the parts or whatever, which is a good way to get a good working guitar coz u don't have to worry about the $5,000 guitar in pub gig. The Ace Frehley bluburstvhas the wrong info engraved in the toggle switch cover and doesn't have chrome top open coil pickups, some come with sparkle finish pickups and semi correct chrome metal pickup rings, some come with fugly plastic cream pickups and pickup rings. Ahhh the infamous Zakk Wylde bullseye that so many are asking $1000 or more for the Epiphone version than the average $599 - $750 they usually sell for on the used market.Yep like it or not that's about as much as they've actually been selling for. I have plenty of screenshots of most of the ones that have actually sold over a period of time to date. With that said, I wish someone in China would make an accurate Zakk Wylde bullseye Les Paul. I'd be happy if they would just get the bullseye correct and stop doing the gold Zakk silhouette and incorrect stamped serial number . Although fret nibs, a three piece laminated neck,etc,etc would be awesome and I'd buy one..lol Haven't been able to find anyone to build one correctly.. Everything is good to go until I request a three piece laminated maple neck and I getvthevsame response from every seller..Sorry we can't build it with laminated neck. That seems a bit odd seeing how I have three Valgoa headless guitars with laminated necks made in China🤔

Hey, I have a Chibson myself, pretty close to your black les paul, pricewise and looks, but I asked for mother of pearl style inlays and they look fantastic. I also have a real Gibson 2016 Studio and I tell you what, its pretty damn close in fact, I prefer Chibson when it comes to overdrive/distortion but use the Gibson Studio for clean tones:) Nice collection over there btw, rock on \m/
