The key ingredient for the perfect disco song was simply orchestration. Artists like Chic, Barry White, and Cerrone knew this, as well as my favorite Alec R. Constandinos- his disco symphonies are priceless. No, there will never be a time again when the passion and thirst for disco consumes you. But, if you put a great disco LP on your turn table, plug in those christmas lights and begin spinning around to the music, something magical will happen and you will be teleported back in time to your bedroom when you were a teenager...... just keep your eyes closed until it's time to flip the record over.

Hi Joaquim are you from Spain? I'm from where Motown started. I think it really does boil down to music execs who are willing to promote real artists, singers and musicians. I believe they are out there. Execs just don't seem to promote them half as much as they used to though. So genuine talents in music seem to be few and far in between in my opinion nowadays. Thank goodness for youtube. At least I have discovered great artists from the past and present through it.

Hi Dana. I'm from Brazil. Did you notice my accent? (just kidding). I think you've got a point, but sometimes I think that nowadays the people think about music as a way to make a lot of money. They don’t really love the art. They don’t do their best. Have you notice that they are smiling and very happy on the ancient videos? I’m not a musician. I’m just a IT executive but I can realize that now people think too much about money and it’s not good for art, sports and other areas where talent really means.

Without claiming that I was "born in the wrong generation" simply because of music taste, I will say that I'm very partial to 70s funk and disco- even as a millennial. Future Funk and French House partially help to revive music like this and give it a new life to a generation like mine. This song helped power me through a tough few months during the early stages of the pandemic. But even setting aside my personal attachment, there's a real craft to how this music gets me on my feet to dance around in a way that club and house music today simply never has done.

Listen to the phat bassline from Bernard, and unbeatable drum beats from Tony Thompson. It laid the foundation for the house, disco house, french house, future funk decades later.

Here's a tidbit for you, folks: the intro bass line was actually Bernard's warm-up riffs before Nile heard it in a rehearsal session, and decided to make a song out of it.

Nile Rodgers, one of the most talented dudes ever! I so miss Disco, & even though I’m almost 60, (don’t move like I did back in the day), Disco Music (especially jams by Chic & Nile Rodgers), still makes me wanna get up & dance! I don’t care what anyone says, DISCO IS NOT DEAD! It’s still alive in those of us still around to enjoy it! PEACE & LOVE
