Greg is spot on about hiking in the heat. Not a lot of fun but you managed to get through it so congrats. The gatorade must have seemed like nirvana and then the trail magic must have been greatly appreciated. We also are a fan of Packit Gourmet, particularly since it is made right here in Austin. Robin is also fond of the Santa Fe Corn Pudding, while I like the Polenta and the Ramen. Take care.

This trail sure is different than the Camino Santiago in that someone I followed on that trail literally saw hundreds of hikers on the trail daily in Spain. Very strange. Funny, I was thinking the same thing when you said that you have to take every step carefully to not go off the cliff. Sometimes the trail really is on the edge of a cliff and you have to be very careful. It really works on your mind mentally and your body physically to be careful. That trail magic was AWESOME!!! I guess the lesson is when you find water, get some. I did the same thing on the AT; I passed up water and then couldn't find any. But at over 100 degrees, you really have to be careful and stay hydrated (as you know). John from MI
