This entire cast was top notch!! The costumes, set, wigs, etc. were magic! Three standout performances for me that I cannot speak enough about are J Harrison Ghee (obviously, need I say more?), Adam Heller (never have I ever felt "Mr. Cellophane" so deeply one could cry), and the ensemble who played so many roles with ease

I loved J Harrison in “Kinky Boots,” but here, they look wobbly on their heels and awkward in general. The costumes don’t help, and that goes for everyone’s costumes. But J Harrison, in particular looks just plain old. Velma has to be ferocious in attitude and sharp in every move she makes, and J Harrison is a little too laissez-faire about all these aspects, and frankly doesn’t seem like an experienced enough dancer to pull this off. I’d like to see more trans and non-binary actors play roles like this, but this performance does not set a good example of how it can be done well.

The whole production looks dreadful and wrong-headed. I say that as someone who saw the original Fosse production in 1975 and loved it.
