Ppl overreacting about Caleb bad practice not realizing that maybe outside the 49ers, Texans, he probably doesn’t see a better defense than his own 🤯 this year.

Thanks guys for the content. As a Lions fan I appreciate the talk, especially about the strengths and weaknesses of Jared Goff. You are right about the fact that when you can pressure Goff you can force mistakes. There was a stretch last season when there were injuries on the offensive line that Goff struggled. He had 3 turnovers against both the Bears and Packers when he turned the ball over 3 times each game. When the line was healthy Goff didn't turn the ball over. That isn't a top 3-5 line. That's top one line, with both the top center, and top tackle in the NFL. Why did Goff get the bag? It was pointed out how he was in the locker room and other intangibles but I'll point out a few other things besides accuracy and throwing a catchable ball. The Lions offense was partially designed by Goff. Unlike what happened in LA with McVay's offense, the Lions offense is totally about Goff and his strengths. Some Goff's subtle talents besides the footwork you guys talked about, was his ballhandling in the Lions play action offense. Detroit has a great running game and Goff is at the top of the league in ball fakes--another reason he doesn't get sacked a lot. Goff also has the ability to protect his receivers. Stafford was a QB with a great arm to fit the ball in tight spaces. Unfortunately those tight spaces often ran his receivers into contact, whereas Goff will throw it away from contact. The other point is that as a Lions fan, I'm tickled to death to see Justin Fields go. He killed Detroit both running and passing. No one here is sorry to see him leave for an unproven rookie. I'm old enough to remember (as late as last preseason) lots of Chicago partisans and some national people were touting Fields as an MVP candidate. There is only one CJ Stroud so I'm not expecting another rookie to come in and immediately take the NFL by storm. I'm sure if the Bears show more patience with Williams than they did with Fields then he will turn out just fine. As far as the Lions team goes, as it happens that Goff contract was actually a team friendly contract all things considered. They paid Sewell and St. Brown now before the cap goes up again, and before the 18 game season raises the cap even more. The Lions will have plenty of money. They are still $24 million under the cap for 2024 as we speak. Detroit is a team with 5 of the best 21 NFL players under 25 years old according to PFF. They'll be around for a while.

Thank you for the Detroit update. Your front office is the bomb. Statistics show health is short lived so I see the bet is he will get hit hard by some 3tech denting the agreement hard. It has been said many times Ryan Poles is playing chess. Trading Justin is a great move giving him opportunity to develop and heal. It created the condition of PICK1 exponentially rising in trade value. Apparently the fish were not biting so Caleb was plan B in value who will sell tickets because of the free mass media hype. The two billion sitting in the hands of the McCaskies is from private investors so I am forced to consider emphasis of our front office is on business before 🏈 itself. 🐻⬇️🧆🏝️

The Lions drafting "prowess" is going to be put to the test, because with continued success they won't be drafting in the top 10 of each round (like they have been for the last 50 years) they'll be drafting in the bottom 10 each round.

Amon-Ra St. Brown (1st team All-Pro) is a 4th round pick. Alim McNeil a 3rd round pick. Sam LaPorta (All-pro rookie) & Brian Branch, 2nd round picks. James Houston (8 sacks in 7 games as a rookie) a 6th round pick. Moved up from 29th this years draft to pick the best CB in the draft. Holmes knows what he's doing.

This is what is referred to as "Painting yourself in a corner." This is good news for the division, as familiarity breeds contempt. The lions will be so predictable moving forward, with JG in the pocket. They better keep that O line in good shape, cause the division will feast!

Very true, but we have time on our side and much of our defense is young. So we'll be able to re-up or replace our vets (dependent on their age and production), taking advantage of these rookie contracts, while continuing to focus our draft picks on replacing key positions and bringing in depth. Now that the talent base is in place, and we arguably have the healthiest fiscal situation, we're setup for ongoing success.

Goff was 3 - 10 - 1 in his first year with Detroit. Goff was sacked 30 times last year, not 35 or 40 like Glyn stated. Goff is a very good QB with a very good supporting cast and I would not overlook them because Goff is the QB. In the San Fran game they could have and should have won the game. Goff placed throws on the hands of his receivers which they dropped at key moments. That said, I still believe the Bears will beat them at least once next season. I am glad the North is so strong this will be a benefit to the Bears because as it's said, "iron sharpens iron."

Swift the lion's after signing all 3 players in Detroit have a whopping 40 in cap space still! Those contracts wont see the books to literally 2026 & the way they structured those contracts is beautiful! Detroit is set up really nice for the long haul those contracts will be bargain deals soon!!

Goff and Purdy are in the same boat. No matter what numbers they put up or the amount of playoff games they win, they will always be considered average.

I'm not calling Goff, Tom Brady, but...Brady didn't have elite arm strength. Nor was he considered a ground threat. On a different scale, both guys are football smart and more times than not make good decisions. As fans we put too much stock in athletic traits, with the hope that the rest follows. Let's hope Caleb is the whole package. Appreciate the content

Swifty i love the issues you are bringing and also your guest but he gets difficult for me to listen to sometimes when he backs up and re-says things and then speeds up to a level i honestly can’t hear and then laughs his way through transitions. Really absolutely smart lovable guy but ‘for me’ needs to just calm down a little.. His slower more direct delivery is excellent .. I don’t want to be the negative response on here because i know everyone loves what they are doing and i know he’s affiliated with NBC but just sayin.. my listening is only gonna work so hard to hear someone. Truly love and appreciate all you and your guests bring every day. Bear Down!

"That money means..." Does it really? Or is that just the market to keep a QB that has been to two NFC championships rather than go to the scrap heap or take a flyers in the draft? sorta like Kirk Cousins...

This contract extension is designed for hype. I surmise that guarantees are set low or the structure is far from making Detroit implode. I saw somewhere the expertise of Detroit front office design of agreements that favored the franchise far beyond players! 🐻⬇️🧆🏝️

bears fan here. I'm not sure about that. Great O-line can carry a team. Look at those Dallas teams. Greatest O-line in history made good players into top tier HOF. Watch the tapes you will be asking if the defense only had 10 guys out there. Emmitt Smith had holes so big an octogenarian could push a wheel chair through. Irvin literally pushed off EVERY play. In todays NFL 1/2 his catches would have been offensive pass interference. Aikman had ALL DAY. He just sat back and waited. AN average college QB today could throw for 4000 yds and 30TD behind that line. Detroit has a better QB and WR than Dallas did.
