Joe Rincon Yep and then you had the Braves on TBS and they had a good intro also. Today these pre games totally suck!! I miss those days in the 80s and early 90s.

This video instantly takes me back to summer afternoons in 1984. I grew up in Michigan as a Tigers fan, but my Mom is from Chicago, so I like the Cubs too. During summer vacation, we would watch the Cubs in the afternoon and then the Tigers at night. As much as we wanted both teams to win, I don't think we could have dealt with a Tigers-Cubs World Series. During 1984, I got a see a twi-night doubleheader at Tiger Stadium and a game pitched by Rick Sutcliffe at Wrigley Field.

My first exposure to this song was through the Cubs broadcasts on WGN. Had no idea who Van Halen was until years later. When I heard "Jump" for the first time with the lyrics I was like, "That's the Cubs theme!"
@andrejg41365 жыл бұрын
I mean being younger, I obviously had the opposite reaction. "How did the Cubs get the rights to 'Jump' by Van Halen?" By time I became a Cubs fan, WGN had gone to straightaway custom production themes again (1996).

I thought the same thing. I had no idea it was Van Halen until later down the line. I didn’t even know about David Lee Roth until 1985. Now every time I hear the song I think about the 1984 Cubs...lol

In Washington, DC that last year of the Senators TV games there, they used the insturmental of Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4. I thought that was the Washington Senators theme before they moved to Arlington, Texas.

Great memories of "the boys of summer". Another song that reminds me of the 1984 Cubs is John Fogerty "Center Field" as they always played it at Wrigley, esp during batting practice. It makes me so nostalgic...Baseball has changed so much since those days.
