Despite the high rent, rising food prices, violence and poverty, I've been a Chicagoan for 41yrs, having visited places such as Mississippi, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, and Louisiana, I always come back home to Illinois and I love My city, I really do 🫡🫡🫡❤ the food, architecture, monuments, history, landscapes, sports teams, music, AND people, there's no place like SWEET HOME CHICAGO !
@JoseMartinez-df2db4 жыл бұрын
You pronounced Potawatomi wrong. There are no mountains in Chicago. We are prairie, marsh and woodland. Dusable was black. You animated him white. Dusable didn't just leave. White people imprisoned him because he owned land.

Why is the Jean Baptist De Sable shown as a racially ambiguous character when his bust is currently displayed as a Black man (Haitian) on Michigan Ave?

In 1673 French explorers Marquette & Joliet "claimed" the Chicago area and the rest of Illinois for France even though as many as 13 Indian tribes known as the Illini or the Illinois Confederation lived in the area and were estimated to have tens of thousands of members. In 1696 a mission was built in the Chicago area by the French but was abandoned a few years later. The area was part of the French Empire until 1763. That year the French & Indian war ended and the area became part of the British Empire. The Illinois people eventually declined because of losses to disease and war brought on by French colonists and eventually had to resettle in Oklahoma. In 1779 a Hatian named DuSable built a house in Chicago but also left a few years later. The area was ceded to the US in 1783 & in 1795 Ft Dearborn was built. Chicago became officially a city in 1837 and by the end of the century became one of the largest and important cities in the world.

Well as a southern illinoian, sure we don't get attention. But its not a drain to our state. Its the only reason this state has any political voice and its why we have a the 6th largest economy. The only reason people down here want to separate is becuase cook county makes Illinois democrat and, people down here are plain racist. Don't cover up your hate by saying its "draining our state"... Chicago is the only thing keeping us alive.
