Just yesterday lost my German Shepherd Camilla after nearly 10 years together. Had to go for a drive to clear my head after she passed and didn’t this song by Chicago immediately start playing in the car. Happens so she was a rescue from a Chicago animal shelter years and years ago. Immensely powerful moment.

I dated a girl who was perfect in my eyes. She was the light of my life and just made it worth living. We were compatible in every single aspect, and after a while I thought she was the one I’d put a ring on. The only problem was that our parents didn’t approve of us seeing each other. We both knew that we could never hurt our families so we thought the best thing to do would be to split. I still remember the last day I saw her, while dropping her back home I played this song in my car. I held her tight as I felt life pull her away from me. I come back to this song to imagine what life would’ve been with her. Alas, I can only dream.

Never let anyone get in the way of true love and happiness. I really hope that you eventually found another that stole your heart. xxx
@benjaminclasper9355 Жыл бұрын
You’re very correct Karenhill9255 it seems unfortunate that sometimes I’ve heard that some parents had to kind of test the female or male of their sons or daughters who they were going to marry and that they wouldn’t approve and that shouldn’t have had to stop someone who wanted to pursue their dreams and live with the person who they truly love. It seems that some parents back then were more strict on who their daughter or son interacted or fell in love with.

Great song, Chicago. So emotional. The lyrics are so touching. Keeps me rocking all these years. The orchestra is superb. Thank you, Chicago.

The opening line "you'll take away the biggest part of me"...wow. That says it all. Even as a 7 or 8yr old when this song came out, that beginning was (for lack of better phrase) like a kick in the gut.

Last night i dreampt i was playing guitar and singing this song aloud on the street and 2 angels came to either side of me and joined in. I believe they were real and that it is the beauty of this angelic masterpiece that brought them into my dream and compelled them to join in. ❤️ Such is the power of music and lyrics.

I first heard this song in my friend's car. I asked him if I could take the audiocassette for a while. He said yes, but only for a while. Then I asked who's song was that. He replied "I don't know, maybe McCartney".

This song truly transports me right back to my early life in the late 70s. I'm so grateful that the Top 40 was so amazing at this time. I think many here listening would agree. My Mom loved playing albums, radio and musical instruments in our home throughout my childhood. She's sadly been gone 23 years but ahe left me with so many musical treasures and memories.
