I remember the good old days of writing research papers in MLA format. Yes, with all the stress of trying to make sure that not only was the paper correctly formatted, but that not one quote or that any sentence that could faintly be construed as a quote was missed lest the class should be failed for accidental plagiarism. After watching this video, I am reminded of how little I miss that stress, and how much more fun it is to watch one of your knowledge imparting videos instead.

WOW! The Canadian-sounding lady left me breathless just listening. My late Dad gave me the 16th edition of CMOS...I hope I'll be much better at forming affidavits and notices very soon.

Thanks for explaining these facts to us. Julie, thank you for another great video.

You're welcome! This is one that I hadn't really thought about the differences until I created the video so it helped me really understand the specifics of the different styles too. :)

Ensuring I'm using all the parts of the correct style is one of my nightmares, so thanks for the reminder to 'stay in my own lane'. Just found Booklaunchers today and you, Julie - The Book Broad. Thanks for all you're sharing. I'm a virtual assistant and have a few existing clients who've suddenly asked me about self-publishing in the last few weeks. Sure is quite the learning curve! I'll be looking for editing experts for their manuscripts. #noboringbooks

It’s definitely interesting having knowledge of various editing styles and having to flip back and forth between them. Sooo glad we have the manuals for refreshes. :-P

Yes I was thinking about that when I was doing the video because I know some editors do different styles. I guess its like being able to speak different languages. Our brain is pretty powerful.

@@BookLaunchers Indeed! Being able to speak different languages with the various editing styles. I like that!! Guess that means I'm multi-lingual!!

I had no idea about all the editing steps until my manuscript was written. Keep track of your sources - for everything! - as you go and it’ll save time and frustration later.

I have a hard enough time keeping up with the basic grammar rules 😀
@BookLaunchers2 жыл бұрын
haha yea I don't really worry about them that much because I know the editors will clean it all up! Honestly, I never really learned a lot of the rules.
