You might have been the one to mention it but, Brandon Johnson was not born and raised in Chicago. He was born and raised in Elgin, Illinois, a Western suburb. There is something about being born and raised in Chicago, at least raised there that results in a closeness to the city and instills a certain perspective which Johnson doesn't have. You can look at him and see that something just isn't there. He doesn't even sound like he's from Chicago. He's living up in the Austin neighborhood like that gives him some street cred. I often wondered why he would pick that area to live in when he could have settled anywhere in the city, especially to be closer to the Loop but, I see it now, he just wants to be closer to his real home, Elgin, Illinois. He's not a real Chicagoan. He would be more of a Chicagoan if he came from Evanston, Skokie, Niles, Maywood, maybe even Dolton. Not to put down Elgin though. It's suppose to be an undiscovered gem. A tranquil, idyllic, low crime, well managed town. Brandon Johnson is about the only bad thing that can be said about it.
