Everyone seems to be confused so I'm gonna try clear it up. Jay isn't breaking up with Erin or leaving because of Abby, he's leaving because he feels like he's going to spiral back into old habits and he doesn't want Erin to be there to see it., He knows Will can handle it. It's about putting someone else's needs over yours, Jay actually did a very courageous thing.

YailynsMom Yvette he didn't love Abby. If he did he wouldn't have left her. Halstead only loves Erin, which is also why he turned Ally down when she wanted him back in season 1 because he already knew he was in love with Erin back then.

No he obviously said nothing will happen with Abby. He explained to Erin why he left - one, he is still legally married and living with Erin feels morally wrong to him (and it is). Two, seeing Abby brought back memories from war and the aftermath that he hasn't dealt with. He has been bottling this up for 9 years. The issue is not Abby, it's his demons. He clearly loves Erin and doesn't want to hurt her.

Erin was being very supportive and I am sure she can handle whatever he has done in the past as her past is colourful and she is a strong woman. He's a vet so I assume he has suffered some form of PTSD. If he feels he is slipping back into those episodes it's definitely safer for him to stay with Will. What if he has an episode one night and turns on Erin? He would never forgive himself. And I figure he's ashamed of who he was and hasn't forgiven himself for his past. He's always been the strong supporter, not the supported. I'm sure pride comes into play to where he doesn't want her exposed to it all. With the upcoming med episode including Daddy Halstead, it may shed some light on family drama as well that really may open some old wounds. I'm interested to see what happens. Erin and Jay have obviously been end game just like Casey and Dawson.

😕. I can understand Halstead needing to sort things out. But moving out is a step back from their relationship which I think is not a good move. It means that there is something lingering him about Abby. Gosh. Previously when Lindsey was upset at Halstead before (the whole Father DNA test), remember when her friend suggested to maybe leave Chicago. Did she? Nope. Because of Halstead. She still stayed for him I believe. I know it's a different situation, but she just basically told Halstead that they can handle it TOGETHER man. Come on Halstead. You better fix this soon.

Lol nothing linstead related in this episode made any sense to me. Like out of all them in the detective unit it's jay who hates anything dirty going on, it just doesn't make sense to me why they made such a morally strong character like his not happen to tell his girlfriend that he was married???? And even a bling guy can see how in love jay is with erin & vice versa so why was it necessary to both leave & tell that Abby chick "maybe"??? That whole scene made me so uncomfortable. So big mean Voight is more of a badass because he hit and then sliced the hand of an old woman?? Yes, she deserved to be punished but in a court of law and don't tell me it was justified to get the code to open the door. Firefighters could be called and have the necessary equipment to open a steel door.

Yeah, Voight keeps getting worse. I don't think what he's doing is badass, I think it's wrong. That's not how a good detective solves crimes. I'd say his behavior could potentially ruin cases. I mean, lots of criminals walked just because they didn't have their rights read. I'm wondering if there will ever be an episode in which he would assault someone innocent, by mistake. I mean, there's no way Voight's problems are NEVER going to get addressed, right? Or am I the only one who finds it weird that they're showing these scenes as something that is normal, something that just happens and no one has anything to say about it?

Alex BePositive completely agree. not only is it wrong, but its horrible screen writing. its a show after all so how believable it is tends to be more important than how just it is. I mean, they need some way to create suspense and drama, right? So i can forgive the fact that it's completely insane, but honestly so often voight just slaps a lifelong criminal or just grips his head tightly before the guy 'cracks'. like... come on now. its just not believable, its not how it works. voight could learn a thing or two from amanda rollins. but to be fair Alex they have plenty of characters that have a huge problem with voights violence.

Nanditha Nair Yeah, you have a point there. Antonio and a couple of others, if not even all, question Voight's actions - but he still gets away with whatever he likes! It's partly because of all the connections he has in Chicago and partly because he's a really good detective. I'll also admit that maybe no one else would be able to run Chicago as well as he, that maybe it doesn't just take a good cop to be the boss, but he crosses the line too often. With this woman, for example, it wasn't even necessary! Idk, I'll just say thank God he's on good guys team.
