Use baking soda, rodents can not digest the soda and it explodes in their system.. This is a natural way of dealing with the rat problem. Housekeeping seal holes in buidlings, sweep and clean up after eating, put garbage in trash and CLOSE the garbage lid.

In my neighborhood north of Boston. We have large heavy duty bins that everyone has from the city, those seem to be a very good defense against rats and mice as the lids are heavy and they cannot be pushed open. They're also sturdy heavy duty plastic that mice and rats aren't able to chew through.

The last time I went to concert at Millenium Park the rats came out of the bushes in droves the minute it got dark, it was the worst thing I've ever seen and not a good endorsement for the city as a whole. Also I used to work a night shift on Lincoln Park West, and the story was the same there, rats would run out of the park at night to feed on garbage, from the restaurants, and we had to keep the door tightly shut or the building would get overrun with them! Not the kind of thing you want to see in high end housing!

They clearly don't know how bad the rat problem is here in LA. I used to live in Chicago and I only seen rats when I rode the CTA red line. Here in LA, they're everywhere especially in DTLA... Chicago is not even close. I've seen way more rats in Hollywood than anytime I've been in the loop.

I remember being in la ...and I was walking at night ...out of nowhere ATLEAST 50-60 rats came running out the storm drain , I couldn't believe my eyes ,never seen anything like it .
