Didn't realize the Mexican influence ran this deep or this long in Chicago. Pretty cool. I'll be sure to visit next time I'm in town. My favorite is tamales & menudo or tacos al pastor.

I live in Texas currently but I would go back to Chicago in a heart beat for the Mexican food. It's beyond compare.

As a Chicagoan, I'm convinced that we have the best Mexican food in the US outside of the border states. Most of that really good Mexican food is on the South Side in neighborhoods like Pilsen and Little Village. Sure, we have haute Mexican cuisine with RIck Bayless's Topolobampo in River North (worth a try all the same), but the downhome stuff is just better south of Madison St. with only a few exceptions.

Been to Austin multiple times. Big fan of Torchy's, Tamale House, and b'fast tacos in general. (Love the BBQ in Austin and Lockhart, and the pecan pie kolaches in West.) What's your pick for best Mex in that vast state?

"[O]utside the border states." California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas. Yes, you are correct that SoCal probably does Mexican better. Las Siete Mares in LA (Silver Lake) and Whittier have the most amazing shrimp tacos. I really enjoyed the ropa vieja at Mexico City in Los Feliz. That doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of superlative Mexican noms in the region.

I’m from the other side of 26 street lol I’ve been in California,Arizona.New Mexico Nevada and honestly the Mexican food sucks lol everything comes with cheddar cheese lol and any tacos with just Cilantro and onions is a street taco that comes with some stewed meat lol 😂. Wow Los Gallo’s I grew up in that restaurant. Second best Carnitas in the city El Molina’s 31 Harding/Pulaski .

Looks great but 26th street in the little village area is a damn war zone. There's plenty of other places to eat Mexican fare around Chicago.

krnpowr How are the ladies. Real talk. Are they as pretty as SoCal and are they more respectable. I think i maybe done with the socal life myself.
@krnpowr8 жыл бұрын
OCSleazy I find the women comparable as well. The weather on the other hand takes a lot to get used to if you're not used to arctic cold that can kill you during the winter and oppressive humid swamp weather during the summer- Chicago has the worst of both worlds there.

Are tacos the only things Mexican's eat? Really though... everything is about some form of taco.
@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo7 жыл бұрын
LiNingAir do Ginos only eat pasta?? lol Tacos is a snack/lunch staple as pasta is for italians... Mexicans and Italians have hundreds of dishes from varies regions that people within their culture don't even know or eat...... For some reason when both cultures come to the U.S. we all forget and cook the same basic dishs and Americans think we eat the same shit.... every italian and mexican restaurant has the same dishes over and over again....... Do your research but as culture of native American, Mediterranean( Spanish, French), little German, and little Arab our food reflects that......
