Pastor Corey Brooks spent nearly a year on a rooftop to raise money to build a community center in Chicago’s notorious gang-controlled “O’block.” That’s why Pastor Brooks took exception with former NBA star Stephen Jackson “checking in” with the “real ones.” One of the kids featured in Jackson’s infamous “O’block” video is headed to jail accused of murder. Brooks shares that story and the battles he’s facing advocating for the black community as a Christian conservative in one of the most liberal, crime-ridden cities in the country.

I am an African living in the UK, and I believe in standing against all forms of discrimination. I use Nelson Mandela as a focal point. If he can stay in prison for 27 years based on what he knows is right, I should be able to bear the consequences of being principled. Men like you are becoming extinct because no one wants to say the unpopular truth anymore. Please continue to be fearless and keep on the good side of righteousness.

Let me get this straight... The pastor pretends to be homeless and live on a rooftop for a year and does this stunt twice and raise millions, meanwhile actual homeless people living on the street and they can't raise their hand and get a warm meal... Please tell me how this makes sense?? So, if you pretend to be homeless, you can raise millions and those millions does not directly address homelessness at all, but the actual homeless people unfortunately are still homeless for real not for stunt or publicity. Where do they come up or their needs are addressed in this community center?

Breaks my heart knowing all these angels have no say and are dependent on parents that don’t want them. Evil, pure evil. Jesus will say the same for the Pastor Brooks as well unfortunatley. A pastor can never serve 2 God's, I say this because whenever pastors and politics get together God's law his commandments become compromised with the sin of lying. I listened to this entire interview and not one time did this pastor mention the name of Jesus Christ or God for that matter. But he made it clear about who he serves and that is the republican party. So build all the community centers in the hood that you would like that cost 25 million dollars a facility or a building regardless of cost will save no one, but Jesus Christ will. Doing it the "Chicago" way? Really dude? So you are really saying as a man of God you are willing to lie, cheat, and steal for what actually? To save a kid who murdered someone from going to adult lock up? He wasn't acting as child when he took a life. I apologize if my comments sounds harsh but the idea if these super or mega churches are only self serving and maybe his politics did drive his members away if any pastor stick with God scripture and stand on the truth of God. But it appears that this pastor like most only serves the spirit of self because he is doing this and that in the black community etc.. this a very old and dated business model passed down from MLK, Malcom, Jesse Jackson, Sharpton, etc.. they have exploited more black people than slavery itself. Get out of all the skin idolatry and get back on scripture.

@flight2424 nah, you can have a say. But like he said, don't preach it over the pulpit. God gave us a reprieve with the Constitution and were gonna mess around and lose it. You up hold it by walking in the statues of God, know His Word by meditation every day. Read the Constitution, "Government" violates it every day cause we are sleeping at the wheel. We, the people, we're in the Wizard of Oz, and everybody is scared to pull the curtain back. Read how Paul delt with the Romans. He knew his rights

@@flight2424respectfully, you don’t know what the Messiah will say to Mr Brooks. You should be more concerned with your own judgement. Where is the Gospel of Jesus Christ being peached in all of this, isn't that the whole reason for the purpose in life? Good deeds are wonderful but it's useless if you're not delivering the message of the True Gospel. A building will not stop the violence anywhere, a changed heart by the preaching of the Gospel will. So if the 40 million dollar facility is designed to stop the violence by going there instead of hanging out on the street its not going to happen. Conflict resolution and Counseling really!!

@@YunaOrganicsexactly it’s nonsense money laundering probably too, it should’ve been a community college or something that would teach skills for men and women to be able to work

@@XXWeaponXIV well, unless you can provide proof of your “money laundering” claim, you’re bearing false witness on him… my God has some commandments about that. Secondly, as far as giving opportunities to work, he stated he’s heavily involved in the trade of construction, which provides training and work for the youth he helps mentor. How are you so sure the community center won’t have opportunities to help young adults become more eligible for employment? At the very least it’ll provide an alternative to standing on a street corner with nothing positive to look forward to. Why is it always those who likely aren’t doing anything for the less privileged, who always have the most to say about those who are trying to help? But carry on, because apparently you know best.

@@jmaundo4759 I said probably money laundering not definitively, the church he was at doesn’t even have the viewership to even make that much money and I’m not saying he has to get a million views but he barley cracks 100 views, also in Chicago the real estate market is very corrupt and hard to even get into and he’s not even from Chicago too, why did the guy decide that he needed 35 million dollars to build a community center? This isn’t the first or last community center that still doesn’t address the problem which is most people are ungodly which is why crime still happens.
