I'll take you a long my super fast-paced trip I tagged along for, starting in Denver, traveling by train to Chicago, Cleveland, Buffalo, Boston and Salem, all places I've never been before. We stop at some cool museums and wander plenty of cemeteries and bookshops.
Worldwide Collaborative bookstore map: maps.app.goo.gl/CSGschx3Sb94x...
*TIP* It seems to have an issue in safari, so either ope on the google maps app, or try a different browser to see all of the pins. Add your own local bookshops!

I worked reception at LA&M for 3 years and still volunteer there on a regular basis! It really is an amazing place run by dedicated and loving people. The woman who restores all the leather and the resident archivist put such hard work and time into making all those exhibits be as beautifully presented as they are. The director is probably the sweetest giant of a teddy bear you could meet ☺️ I honestly can’t speak highly enough about them and I thank you for giving the museum the exposure! Come around the winter holidays for our gear sale and swaps! Lots of love from Chicago! ❤

The LA&M was probably one of the biggest highlights for me of the whole trip. We spent a while there but not long enough, it was such an incredible museum. I'm so happy to hear it's a wonderful place to work and volunteer as well!

Haven’t wandered around Chicago since 1965, when I got out of boot camp, forgot how pretty it could be, thanks for the reminder . Denver huh, grew up there 1950 - 2001, moved to Fort Collins, still there doing witchy things 😂, I love traveling by train ❤️♍️🗝🧙🏻‍♂️

I was watching & listening to this vlog while being busy in the kitchen, trying my best to start my day better than I did yesterday. When you got to the church of Salem and said what you said I caught myself getting teary eyed and emotional which is huge considering I've been stuck in a rather apathetic period for some time. Thank you for being a catalyst for hope. :)

I would love to get a video from you on the more cerimonial aspects of your practice. Rituals and techniques you use, etc... I am a more cerimonial centered practitioner and always loved your channel for explaining and aproaching basic witchcraft, so it would be amazing to have such a video from you. Loved this one, though, as with all your vlogs!

Salem is very kitchy but in a way i like that. in that what they feared the most, has become mainstream and the defining element of the town. There are historical elements about the town's sea faring days so it's not all the witch tials, but it is the element that defines the city and you just know that would drive those puritans just nuts.

Honestly, for me it's Danvers (formerly Salem Village) rather than Salem that's worth the time. Much more sedate and respectful, and the local historian will send you to the key places, which were quiet and mostly empty when I was there. But I enjoyed your commentary a lot. Looked like an amazing trip. Chicago!!

I'm rewatching this and I guess last time I must've been busy when you started talking about Salem. I wanted to say Salem has kind of become like you described Hollywood. Or at least that's as far as people get because they stay on Essex St. It's sad, because it's such a quaint seaside town that has lots of charm. Salem is very much Boston's queer neighborhood, because Boston itself doesn't have one. That's where all my queer friends went for bars. Walking Derby Square at night in winter with snow just SCREAMS "This is New England". That's the magical part. I moved to Boston in 2015 and was able to enjoy Halloween (which was on a Saturday that year) in downtown Salem. Crowds weren't an issue. I never really noticed the tourist until about 2019 when being goth and witchy became the It Thing. You can't get into Salem in October unless you're there at 9am now. It's hell for residents or those who work there lol. Every year, tourists in the community FB would be complaining, "why does everything close at 6pm?" Because that's how New England works. The mayor put out a statement last year I think it was flat out saying, "This isn't Disney World. Treat the town with respect". People were looking into the windows of the Hocus Pocus how despite the fact ITS PRIVATE PROPERTY with people living there. I apologize for the rant, I just wish people enjoyed Salem more like how you did. Get off the main road. Understand there is more to Salem than the witch trials (which most of the historical locations aren't even in modern-day Salem). Hang with locals. I moved away from New England last fall, and I miss the Local vibe of Salem. If you do ever go back to Salem, I highly recommend the Peabody Essex Museum. There is also a fabulous walking trail with loads of flora that's not on the map. It's walking distance out of downtown and by the power plant. It's very beautiful last I walked there. And quiet.

Looks like an amazing trip! You got to hit up a lot of fun places even though it was a fast trip. Also awesome you travelled by train. I went to a traveling pirate exhibit many years ago in Minnesota. It looks very similar to the one you went to, maybe it was apart of the same museum that traveled around the country. At any rate, thanks for sharing your adventures. ❤

You were in Buffalo during Pride and I missed you!? 😭😂 so glad you had a good time. We are the city of good neighbors and good times. Check out Forest Lawn Cemetery next time if you feel led to do so, so beautiful (and Red Jacket and James Brown is buried there). So many beautiful cemetaries in WNY and Lilydale is only an hour away(still on my bucket list). There’s also some cool witchy and esoteric shops. And the AKG Museum. And the Botanical Gardens (sometimes they do light shows). I could go on 😅 Blessed be 🤍

The cemetery that had the glass case enclosures was amazing😲 the sculpture ..wow. If you ever get to travel to Scotland you should check out the cemetery in Glasgow -- my dad and I spent the better part of the day there then went to the oldest house in the city right across from the cemetery.. Wow I was so surprised when I saw the Celtic witch portion that they would have that there! Does anyone know if they would teach on the true historical and traditional ways of the Celtic people or would it more be what has been created today? Edit: opps I went back and read the sign. But I am still curious if it’s really true as personally I’ve come across SO many things that say they’re traditional but really aren’t. It looks so cool!

How did you like traveling by train? It’s so normal for me in Europe, I rarely ever fly anywhere because so many big cities are very close (eg I travel to Copenhagen in 5h with a direct train and Prague in 6h with another direct train)… I personally like being able to just sit on a train and relax, I wouldn’t want to do the same routed by car, always having to focus on the street 😅
@TheWitchOfWonderlust

I didn't mind it! I defiantly prefer trains in Europe, the US is so behind on so may things and public transport is SO behind here. However I enjoyed it in the sense of just hanging out and being able to stretch and walk around and eat whenever!

What a fun trip! I'm glad you ended up liking Salem. My ancestors lived there during the witch trials so when I visited (my best friend moved there for work) I was focused on the people who are connected to me personally. If you ignore the campiness and explore places like the house of seven gables, the witch house, and adjacent Danbury (formerly Salem Village), it can be a powerful experience.

As someone stuck in Alabama, it's so nice to see that rainbow flags, LGBTQ+ recognition and symbolism is just everywhere in other parts of the country. All is not so bleak as it is here in the deformed heartlessness of the Bible Belt.
