Chicago Voices Master Class - Renée Fleming with Melissa Foster

Observe soprano Renée Fleming and Northwestern University faculty member Melissa Foster coach high-school students in classical and musical theater genres.
Many of the vocalists who were featured at the Chicago Voices Concert took part in panel discussions, master classes, and demonstrations at Columbia College Chicago. Topics discussed and explored included vocal health and pedagogy, music business, self-marketing and promotion, social media, and career planning.

It's a great pleasure seeing both Ms Fleming and Ms Foster's expertise. It has re-established many of the things I already do with my high school students and private adult students. I look at this often as I too have learned a lot in doing so. Thank you both. I also thank the students for participating. All the very best to all of you from the beautiful island of Bermuda!

She is very young and in the very beginning of building her voice. it's obvious. So people should slow down their criticism. I find it very interesting to have Fleming work with someone that early in their voice development.

oh boy...I just realizedvthese are high school students. please disregard my critical former comment. I thought these were older students on a professional track. So there you have it, lol...keep on singing guys!!!

It's a pity the recording mic placing was too close to the piano and it overpowered the singers so they all sound quieter

Who is Melissa Foster seriously? She isn't an opera singer I am sure she s not. She should letting Renee Fleming guide those new opera singers.

first singer I could barely hear. Not sure if it's this recording. I was not that impressed, however, I think her breathing could be improved to sustain a better quality in terms of color, resonance etc.

Interessant, dass man sich traut so viele unbegabte Sänger vorzustellen. Sie sind alle auch zu vorsichtig. Geben gar keine Stimme. Eine gewisse Lautstärke muss schon da sein. Das geht nicht nur mir guter Resonanz.
