Glad to see I’m not the only one that finds surprises when I open up my flower press. I have the Felco 322 Picking and Pruning Snips. I picked them up at my local Garden center after Laura from Garden Answer recommended them. I noticed that she now sells them in her shop I use them for harvesting flowers and vegetables and it makes life so much easier. I’ve never planted pansies before, but I think I need to this year. Thank you for enabling me. 😁

I planted blue pansies too - fall colors be damned! 😅 I've moved them to the shade every afternoon in this ongoing odd Chicago heatwave ☀

I take glass fillable Christmas ornaments and fill them with dried florals like gomphrena, strawflowers & more.

Ooooh that’s a good idea!!! I need to do that this winter.

Coming back to holidays, in August, I saw a plant I never sowed. I water plants with the water I used to rinse fruit and vegetables, so probably it was a seed coming from there. I just let it grow, and surprise: it's watermelon 😂 that will never actually get me a fruit, since it was too late in the season... still, I like it on my balcony and I am leaving it there.

Omg 😆😆😆 I would love a watermelon surprise!

Bethany " Who am I?" Looks at you looks at the medieval flower press torturing device and grins. Lol. Is that peas in front of the sun flowers? We never have luck with beets. They just refuse to bulb. I visited a garden on a delivery when I worked up in Boston to a woman's house in New Hampshire who's Cool shaded dark black fine heavy soil had massive beets growing in it between both driveways ( His and her personal parking spots.) She also had leeks the thickness of a toothpaste tube. I wish I had that kind of fertile soil and nicer temps to grow in. I think the heat of the south is a no go for us. We are planting in Fall and have mid 50 lower 60F nights. The days are still a swampy 75-80F at around 75% humidity. Everything I want to grow needs that nice Cooler Chicago weather. Be it Apple tree's or berry bushes. We still have a boat load to learn what grows in this 7a without risk of mildew ( every squash under the sun!) our candy roaster squash are doing great ( re-plant ) in the fall garden as summer baked everything crisp & crunchy. Peppers laughed it off and i could hear them saying to the tomatoes... " Weaklings! You are not fit to rule this garden! Bow down and behold the growth of peppery greatness!" 😋

They are peas! I only had luck with beets the first year but I keep trying them just in case 😆
