Chicagoland Railfanning In October 2016

Watch in HD! A week ago I took a day long trip down to Northwestern Indiana to catch some trains in the East Chicago and Gary areas, with the intent of using the trip as a scouting mission for future trips later on in my time in Michigan. The East Chicago area didn't disappoint despite being a Sunday, with representatives from all 6 class one railroads making an appearance along with numerous fallen flags and a few surprises. Featured in this video are CN, CSX, and Chicago South Shore and South Bend trains in and around Gary, Indiana, including a KCS SD70ACe on the point of an oil train, the Chicago South Shore and South Bend local with their beautiful ex Iowa Interstate SD38-2 leading, Grand Trunk and Elgin, Joliet and Eastern power on a local out of Kirk Yard, action on the NS in and around CP 502 in East Chicago, including famous Hick Tower, still in operation as a tower for the bridges at the west end of the interlocking plant, CP Rail power on their trackage rights trains, multiple northbound trains off of the Indiana Harbor Belt including one with the Norfolk Southern NMRA sticker SD40-2, plant switchers at the steel mills, and much, much more!

The mills were the old Inland Steel plant. Now called Arcelor Mittal . A shell of it former self. Great video

You should definitely go to Pine Junction on North Clark Road in Gary, IN. There is probably around 200 trains a day that go through there everyday. Also I love this video.
