I have this guitar... inherited from my grandpa who used to play rockabilly and bluegrass back in the 50s/60s in a couple local bands. It's my prized possession, but I'm afraid to play it. This has inspired me to break it out and give it a little work-out this weekend.

Passed on a Citation, same for an old L5. I just want what I want and I guess that makes me particular, but when I saw and heard this ES295... OH WOW!

Beautiful ! What a beautiful guitar for playing those beautiful Scotty sounds . He played souped up country to fit Elvis's style and moves and nobody ever did it better. How much is this beauty? Only 80 of them in the world ? Must be BIG bucks !

I could not afford this guitar, but I found an Epiphone ES-295 copy from around 2001. I found it on Ebay, and I was the only bidder. I love the sound of these big hollow bodies. I got the ES for $600. It was very clean, Bigsby removed with the nice case. I had to spray some WD 40 on the toggle switch, In its center position only one pickup was working. I let it sit overnight, and this morning it was fine. Now how about that. I wish all of you a good new year.

The Epiphone model sounds good also. I haven't research it yet. Vintage is very expensive. You still get hum on a hollow body guitar. I use acoustic electric guitar, though I have a semi- hollow body vintage guitar. The acoustics are not comfortable mentioned.Phillip Austin

I think he meant that the 295 was the only Gibson that was all gold "including" the back of the neck. 50's Les Paul gold tops only had gold bodies.

I have heard that these are particularly known for feeding back since they are fully hollow. How do you control the sound and guitar to keep that from happening ?
@ekmekthefig10 жыл бұрын
Hollowbodies are my thing and I can say theres really only one way: Practise. You really have to get to know eACH guitar and how they react to different amps,rooms, songs. Some notes feedback easier on some and some don't feedback at all. I play a Godin 5th AVENUE (big jazzbox) in a Punky Alternative band and it's worth the hassle for the sound.

BB, be used to take bed sheets shred them up and stuff them through the fholes of his 335 model probably works somewhat but I do believe the Lucille's are chambered solid body perhaps
