Scott, was a friend of mine. For 30 plus years. One of the nicest easy going friend I had . I sat with him 3 or 4 day in his upstairs. Bedroom at home in June before he passed away, while my Niece took care of his home & cooked for him.

SCOTTY!!!! You scared the heck out of me back in the 50's when I was just a young kid getting mesmerized by the early sounds of Rock n Roll - your swampy bluesy primal guitar playing has never left me- You and Elvis will NEVER leave my building!! RIP, Sir

That's the first Rock n Roll holy grail guitar he's holding Gibson ES 295 Scotty bought in 1953 from Memphis music store but then he traded for another guitar in 1955, luckily a friend of Elvis bought the guitar and kept it all these year till it was finally given back to Scotty in 2007

by a million miles -- he was the first rock n roll guitar player that I was ever exposed to. Even after Scotty has passed. he "still" has licks that I've always wanted to get "perfect. My first guitar hero. D.J. was the guy that got me really liking rock. I used to pound the shit out of a stool that was stuffed with foam, I beat that thing 'til the stuffing was all over the living room. I knew I loved rock then. Hound Dog got me wired.

I've seen GK many times around my neighborhood, at the grocery, pharmacy, gas station. Super nice and approachable man and a legend himself. If you listened to Memphis radio in the 60's and '70's, he's imprinted in your brain. As far as Scotty, yes, the godfather of rock n roll guitar, just ask Jeff Beck.

Yes, there were many guitar heroes who were there at the beginning, and I think the moment Scotty Moore began improvising that day, Rock and Roll was born. Those magic fingers pulled it straight from his heart for the world to hear. Many came right after, but every great player in the fifties and sixties owe it all to Scotty Moore along with Perkins, Les Paul and a handful of other's. Just imagine all the great things they started. Amazing group of innovators who still own the brand!

Ran across this in my feed today. I sure remember going to sleep at night when I was growing up listening to the Q and the Geeker in my speaker. I went to Humes for three years and George lived across the street from the school for a time. He was emcee for one of our talent shows at Humes. The best memory I have of George, and I have kicked myself for 50 years for not taking advantage of the contact, I stopped George for speeding on Southern Ave not far from WHBQ. I didn't take the time to talk to him for a few minutes, tell him who I was, and where I went to school. I should have told him I wouldn't write him a ticket if he'd help me meet Elvis. Never crossed my mind until he was driving away. No, he didn't get a ticket anyway.

Scotty Moore, took a Chet Atkins style of picking, and he built his own style from that, once perfected he made it look so easy that the genious behind what he was doing was over shadowed by Elvis... In my view, The power of Elvis's voice backed with the power of Scotty Moore's Guitar and Bill Black's Bass was a phenomenal event that hasn't yet been matched... Especially once he perfected his style and was able to afford the best of equipment....
@marvinbush5278

Sure, Scotty Moore all but invented Rock n'Roll guitar.
@TheFarmerfitz
@TheFarmerfitz 4 жыл бұрын
@@marvinbush5278 I wouldn't go that far, but he was there in the beginning of Rock-n-Roll.. (not to be confused with R&B).. There were others experimenting with it, and they didn't even know what to call it yet... And (the big time) didn't happen overnight For Elvis, Scotty and Bill either.. They paid there dues.. And along the way they developed their own style.. One that worked (Obviously)... Elvis learned a lot of his moves "as he went"... Scotty knew early on that more and more, it was Elvis who was becomming the "star attraction"...And he was absolutely just fine with that... But, one cannot listen to Elvis's records from the 50's, hear that driving guitar and not know that, Scotty was a major contributor to popularizing Rock-n-Roll... Even if he did just stand there in the background and play...
