Stella makes a most difficult decision to drop the charges on her boyfriend after he tried to kill her and Severide.

Also, Casey finds himself in a tough spot after an alderman who had discovered the favor that lead to Dawson fostering Louie and uses it as leverage.later on,The firehouse responds to an accident and despite orders to stand back, Borelli walks towards the fire and gets burned and severely injured in the fiery flames. He is taken to Chicago Med and it is determined that he can no longer be a firefighter.

Adrienne Knight Pretty sure Grant had bi-polar disorder with paranoia, he was also high on drugs. Thus why he was committed to a psychiatric facility. Severide is right. She knows what she needs to do, and it’s not just affecting her. Severide could have killed him, not his fault but still any human being would be emotionally wrecked after a situation like that, also if he hadn’t stepped in then someone he cares about could have died.

Izzy Smith she did apologise to Kelly for him getting caught up in this mess and tried to deal with it by herself so Kelly wouldn't have to get involved. Don't forget she was married to grant for 6 years and legally still his next of kin at this point. She tried to cut him off multiple times, but he kept coming back, Grant was a stalker with mental heath and drug problems it was not Stella's fault, she was the victim here, and victim blaming is never a good idea, she did the right thing having him committed, jail would have been useless.

Mason Campbell I’m not victim blaming. I’m questioning her choice not to press charges post incident. Jail may not be better for him and his mental health however that is in no way her issue to deal with. If it keeps him away and her in a safer position then it’s an acceptable course of action. And he wasn’t committed. He was given the option to voluntarily commit himself. The difference being he’s able to discharge himself if he wishes and somewhat on his own terms. A point from Dr. Charles made. I understand that she was married to him for 6 years, that would impair anyone’s judgement. I’m just saying being attacked with a knife would probably indicate to me that more forceful measures now need to be taken to ensure my safety, especially if he has a mental illness that creates an unhealthy obsession and a history of combining that with drugs that make him more irrational and now on a violent level.

Izzy Smith he wouldn't have gotten the treatment he needed in prison, she felt an obligation to him but also wanted to make it clear that she wouldn't decide for him anymore she wanted him to make the right choice to get better, plus i'm guessing that the deal he signed had conditions such as restraining orders, and dr Charles would have made sure that he wasn't to be released unless he was deemed safe after an incident like that. Stella talked about it in season 7, and i think Kelly had a better understanding of Grants actions, and Stella learnt from it too. Stella's unwavering desire to help is what makes her a great firefighter, she may get 'burned' but she keeps trying to help anyway, that's the job. Kelly did the same thing with that firefighter from Denver, still tried to help him even after he got arrested for dangerous driving and checked himself out of rehab, and helping that kid Bria and her dad. They are defiantly cut from the same cloth in that respect.

In the real world it's self-destructive and foolish. If Stella wants to nail herself to a cross, that's her choice. But if other people are getting caught in the line of fire, all bets are off! Prison might not help Grant, but tough cookies. Life isn't fair. What about the next girl who rejects him? Did that ever occur to Stella, or was she only thinking of her own phoney martyrdom? Nope. Severide needed to run away fast. Of course he won't, because it's TeeVee, but a man can hope.

If you watch the show you wouldn't say that. This was four seasons ago, grant is committed to a psychiatric facility where he should be and Stella apologises to Severide and accepts that she was wrong. A lot has happened since. She learns from her mistakes and MORE than makes up for it over the next 3 and half years, she is always there for Severide and accepts his faults too. Besides Severide does the same thing he tries to help a drug addict, alcoholic former firefighter even after he gets arrested for dui and dangerous driving and skips out on rehab. They are cut from the same cloth that way. Stella Kidd is the best thing that ever happened to Severide. He is happier now than he ever was on the show before.

it's a long story but Stella and Severide met a while back on a training course while she was still married to Grant. Severide was smitten but didn't know she was married, he let himself into her her house with flowers and alcohol, Grant was there and thought they were having an affair, Stella convinced him they weren't. Some time later she divorces Grant and gets assigned to 51 where she meets Severide again, the attraction is obvious, not long after that they start sleeping together. Grant won't leave her alone though and he's on drugs/mentally ill and he sees Stella and Severide together and gets jealous, thinks they were together the whole time, Grant tries to kill himself but firehouse 51 save him and he's put on a psychiatric hold in the hospital. Grant breaks out of the hospital and breaks into Stella's apartment and steals a knife, she comes home with Severide so Grant leaves without them even knowing he was there. Later Grant comes at Stella with a knife behind Molly's, Severide comes to protect her, grabs a piece of metal from the dumpster and hits Grant, accidentally severing his jugular. Stella and Severide disagree over how Stella handles the situation and break up but they go on to become best friends and roommates and eventually realize they are in love with each other and they are freaking adorable together.
