I think they just played every possible chord that there was to play. Gawd I would not want to improvise on this without a ton of rehearsal, and I think Corea was still reading the sheet music. Just amazing to watch. So glad this is here for all to see Corea's and McLaughlin's legacies.

Believe it or not, Corea's playing is strongly reminiscent of Bill Evans, both in his simpler passages and in his modulation pattern.

dead on interpretation. I saw Chick at Blue Note when he recorded Further Explorations - a tribute to Bill Evans, and his playing was uncanny...

John also has paid tribute to Bill Evans with an album. Incredible interplay here.

Who has the absolute chops to even play with the likes of Chic Corea, but John McLaughlin? What pianist but Chic Corea would dare to match chops with the likes of McLaughlin on guitar? A match made in musical heaven. Even if he's playing an Ovation. A great mix, but even better musicianship and tonality from the hands of two modern masters.

Love Chick Corea! This piece reminds me a little of a Charlie Brown special (in a good way).

He probably took that ovation thing from Di Meola. I wonder if they were considered as cheesy 30 years ago as they are now :P

He was playing the ovation in 1971. He took nothing from LITTLE Al. I saw him play solo guitar in 1971 in Vancouver ( Hello " MY Goals Beyond".) For a factory guitar the harmonics were wonderful. To each his own I guess.
