Roy Haynes was the perfect drummer for Chick's style. Not to knock the other great drummers he worked with, but this is a marriage made in heaven. RIP--you will live forever.

. . À bientôt

The album "Return to Forever" inspired me to take the piano and buy a Fender Rhodes. While that excursion was short-lived, my appreciation for Armando "Chick" Corea's work, especially the early stuff, endures.

Historico trio que vi en vivo en Madrid!! Para mi uno de los mejores discos que escuche de Chick Corea!!

Quatral harmonies, chromaticism-open concept-no chord progressions-takes alot of skill and talent to play interestingly like this modally. Reminds me of McCoy Tyner, did similar things back then. Still can't seem to accept that Chick Corea is gone. Was such an enduring voice throughout his lifetime. Listening to this-where do we go from there? Have to stand on the shoulders of musical giants and hope to see some daylight from there.

Short Poem by ARMANDO ANTHONY "CHICK" COREA ~ "Clinging to Beauty; Clinging to Ugliness Depending on Love and Loving; lingering with hate and hating Rejoicing to high heaven; then sad unto death Now he sings; Now he sobs Now he beats the drum; now he stops. During the course of steps, he learns The Law~of~Falling~ and~Catching~Up He begins to see how What Was always was and changes as its waves of energy converge to form a new tonal matrix from which he comes again Because he sees, with great clarity, The Law ~of~Falling~and~Catching~Up, he completes the steps in the right time and mounts toward the Matrix from which he originally came." Mr. Corea's writings inspired by I Ching ~ The Book Of Changes.

Quote by ARMANDO ANTHONY "CHICK" COREA ~ "The wind blows over the lake and stirs the surface of the water Thus visible effects of the invisible manifest themselves." This wonderful quote graced the rear sleeve of Chick's classic 1968 album ~ "Now He Sings, Now He Sobs." Chick Corea ~ Acoustic Piano Miroslav Vitous ~ Acoustic Bass Roy Haynes ~ Drums

So sad that Chick ended up joining the dangerous cult of Scientology. But at least he made some great music for us before he fell under the spell of the deranged madman, L. Ron Hubburd. And no matter what: Chick Corea > North Korea.
