god that's beautiful - Chick normally leaves me slightly cold. But this is once of those interpretations that just feels 'perfect'.

Tried for two days to figure out the first few chords in the melody 0.52....it's just so perfect. But I did come close. Thanks for this transcription of an absolutely beautiful song and interpretation.

That's a very impressive transcription. Even blessed with my good ear(otherwise I wouldn't be a piano tuner), I can't come anywhere near what you or other transcribers manage to accomplish.

Fred Hersch version will never be beaten for me but this is definitely a great version too 1:24 section has some great harmonies ❤

This is up there with any classical music. Thie melody and harmonies are magical yet so simply as seen on the pages of transcription, as if you too should be able to do it, nothing out of order. The chord structure is intoxicating, always wavering moving emotionally like a carousel revolving. I'm sure Chic knew the lyrical meaning when he poured his heart out playing.

Measure 18 0:33 Minor chords physically cannot contain #9s, it is impossible as it is enharmonic to the minor third
@rhtranscriptions96652 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by they 'physically' can't contain #9s, but what I'm trying to express in that chord symbol is that the natural 9th would be an F flat, whereas in this voicing the 9th has been raised (in other words sharpened) to an F natural.

This is such a beautiful track and good work. However this song is actually a waltz. That’s why you have had to notate so many quarternote triplets. Chick's double time stuff won’t actually metrically fit into 4 the way you've notated it. For example his sixteenth notes are the double time of your quarter note triplet in 4/4

Beautiful, but I believe the whole thing should be in 3.

With it being a solo piece, several artistic liberties are taken with respect to the underlying pulse and moments of pause so, in order to represent that precisely, like this guy has done, we can expect to see what we see here with the different time signatures and fermata and such. I’ll bet that when this is played back with the software he used, it sounds right on the money.
