She could have changed the order of that mess to salvage that recipe. Reserve butter, only needs to coat the pan anyway. Pour the chicken broth in with the chicken and stir. Make the batter thicker so it plops on the top like hills. Use the reserved butter lightly on top of each hill of batter. Then bake. Also, I would have added a bunch of veggies in with the chicken because you know darn well this is a casserole, not dumplings. Making the batter thicker is key so as it bakes it dries out more like bread. The way she did this dish was like a swamp porridge. Don't blame her husband for not wanting her to experiment with his food. You can tell that man has suffered previous experiments. He is still living but I bet he spends a lot of time on the toilet.
