This is the second time I’ve used your chicken and dumpling recipe. Thanks, it’s great and very simple to make

Hi, this is Jack in Northern California (I know, I know, Calif, ugh!!!) lol. I’m a retired, 55yr Correctional Lieutenant, with our 2 kids in scouts. Well, last week was my first 4 day car camping trip, and my meal was a disaster. Therefore, I have vowed to not let that happen again. I’m learning how to use a Dutch oven with just coals. I came across your video and just loved it. You explained yourself well, and it appears to be fairly simple. I will try this on our next outing. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and share it with all of us Utubers. Jack

I am making this recipe this week.Question though.. do you shred the chicken before serving?
@wyomingdutchovencooking46563 жыл бұрын
I don't shred the chicken thighs. If it is for adults I put one thigh per plate. If for young ones I will spilt the thighs in half. Then cover with veggies and gravy topping off with one or two dumplings.

How many briquettes are you using on the top of the lid and under the bottom of the Dutch oven?
@wyomingdutchovencooking46563 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I use 8 on the bottom and 16 on the lid. Add more as needed to keep the temperature at 350 degrees. To brown the dumplings add more on the lid.

@@wyomingdutchovencooking4656 I used 16 on the bottom and 12 on top just to be sure. The dumplings were NOT cooked at all after 30 minutes. I got the coals glowing cherry-red before I used them so I am not sure what happened. The chicken and other ingredients cooked beautifully. Do you suggest using more coals?
@wyomingdutchovencooking46563 жыл бұрын
@@lvnitlovnit09 I would use 8 o n the bottom and 16 on top. The last 15 minutes you may need to add more on top to brown the dumplings. I am sorry that I missed you question before.
@wyomingdutchovencooking46563 жыл бұрын
That is for a 12" Dutch oven if you are using a larger oven you want to use more on top and bottom but always more on top at the same ratio.
