Chili chicken is the most popular Indo-Chinese style chicken appetizer or starter that is served in Indo-Chinese restaurants. Vegetarian alternates are made with paneer, mushroom, potato etc.
Chili Chicken is a sweet, spicy & slightly sour crispy appetizer made with chicken,bellpeppers, garlic, chili sauce & soya sauce. To make the best Chinese chili chicken, boness cubes are marinated in soya sauce, chili sauce and pepper. Then deep fried until crisp.
For marination:
- Boneless chicken (Chicken breast ) cut into cubes- 600 gms
- Salt- 1 tsp
- Soy sauce- 1 tbsp
- Crushed Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
- Egg - 1 nos
- Cornflour- 3 tbsp
- Maida or All purpose flour- 2 tbsp
- cooking oil- 1 tbsp
- cooking oil- 500 ml(for frying)
For preaparing chili chicken
- Onion petals- 1 medium onion
- Green capsicum cubed- 1 medium
- Spring onion,(white portion & green tops)- 6-7 nos
- Garlic(Minced)- 2 tsp
- ginger sliced- 1 inch
- Green chillies, thin slices- 2 nos
- Soy sauce- 1.5 tbsp
- Tomato sauce- 2 tbsp
- Chilli sauce- 2 tbsp
- Vinegar- 1 tsp
- Cornflour slurry- 1 tbsp cornflour mixed in 2 tbsp of water
- Honey- 1 tbsp
- water - 2 tbsp
